I think that English might have been [my worst subject]. I think that they all might have been easy. I had all A's in every class, so it's hard to pick. I had to work the hardest at English."

Read the rest of his interview here. Pretty interesting.

I have an absolute ridiculous amount of books. It’s the original one with the keyboard at the bottom and no touch screen. I have an iPad, but the Kindle has definitely gotten the most use.
So, I’m guessing he and Cliff Lee are gonna get along great, yeah?

I love the dichotomy there. The possibilities of the interactions between an old-school (for lack of a better term) redneck and a well-educated young guy are going to be rather hilarious to watch.

WIth Lee as the “old-school redneck?” How do you figure that? Charlie, maybe, but Lee seems pretty well-spoken.
I think there’s a difference between “redneck” and “hick.” A redneck can still be a well-cultivated individual that just doesn’t happen to know much about your standard “book-learnin.” A hick, on the other hand, has very little grasp on cultural and social etiquette.
I might just be talking out my ass, but this is kinda what I picked up on since I’ve been living in the South.

We can debate terminology, but all I know is that Lee has told reporters that he’s never read a book in his life.

Interesting. Here, a redneck and a hick mean about the same thing. Generally, people who own more guns than me, drive a bigger truck than me, and live between the meth lab area and the oil refinery.
But he does play chess.

Cliff Lee: I don’t think I’ve read a book in my life, to be honest.

Crazy. If you’d asked me which of the guys was most likely to be an “unlearned” guy, I’ve no idea who I would have picked, but it wouldn’t have been Lee. Dubee, maybe.
Doubt he can sit still long enough to read a book.

He’s probably read the first ten pages of every book ever written.
