As expected, the Phillies have placed backup catcher Brian Schneider on the 15 day disabled list for a right ankle sprain suffered during Sunday's evening game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Catcher Erik Kratz was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley once again. PennDOT is reportedly considering giving Mr. Kratz naming rights for a rest stop on the Pennsylvania Turnpike's Northeast Extension.

Schneider, 35, had posted a .232/.293/.362 line in 26 games and 76 plate appearances, serving as backup to starting catcher Carlos Ruiz.
