The Phillies' 2013 season has been over for quite some time now, even though they stopped playing games less than a month ago. But now that we've had some time to ruminate about the fail-quake (fail-nado? fail-icane?) that was this past baseball season, it's time to vote for this year's player awards.
Over the next week, I'll be publishing polls for the various player awards: most valuable player, least valuable player, Cy Young, the anti-Cy Young (if you have an idea for a name for that award, please put it in the comments), reliever of the year, rookie of the year (Henry Rowengartner is sadly not eligible), and minor league player of the year. While you vote, the TGP staff will be voting in their own poll, and next week I'll publish the results of each category day-by-day. Individual staff choices will be made public, and each writer will have a paragraph to defend their choice. Staff members who do not vote will have their choices selected by me, and I will be merciless.
Today, we're starting with most valuable player. Don't see your choice on there? That's probably because you want to pick Michael Martinez, so too bad. I culled the list of 50+ Phillies players down to the guys who played the most, plus two starting pitchers. If your choice truly isn't listed, then make your case in the comments. That's what the comments are there for!
So vote away! Vote now! Vote, please! And come back tomorrow for the next category, least valuable player.
