Your 2013 Phillies Opening Day Roster: Inciarte and Aumont make the team; Stutes out.

Don't look back you can never look back... But man.. I still think this was a stupid non tender... - Chris Gardner

The Phillies have announced their opening day roster, and there are a few mild surprises. Aumont and Rule 5 pick Ender Inciarte are in, and Michael Stutes is out.

The biggest surprise here is probably Michael Stutes being optioned to AAA in favor of Raul Valdes or Phillipe Aumont, and Ender Inciarte making the team. Inciarte, a rule 5 pick has never played a game above high A ball.

The Phillies opted for 12 pitchers, and 5 bench bats, two of which are Freddy Galvis and Ender Inciarte.... That means means on days Laynce Nix starts, Inciarte and Galvis are basically your LH Bats off the bench...

YEAH, #shouldofkept

Delmon Young starts the season on the DL, as expected, and Humberto Quintero gets the nod over Steven Lerud while Chooch serves out his 25 game suspension.

There's always a chance that one of these spots could change as other players are released this weekend, and its no secret that Ruben Amaro would like to upgrade at catcher or in the OF still if possible.

When Delmon Young is healthy, there will be an interesting decision to make. Inciarte is the odd man out, most likely, but stranger things have happened.

By the way, the last time Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley and Ryan Howard all stepped on the field together on opening day, the Phillies beat the Washington Nationals 11-1, and secured their first of 97 victories en route to a date in the NLCS.

Just Saying.

Kickoff is in 54 hours!
