Phillies Minor League Roundup, June 19, 2013

Lehigh Valley 10, Toledo 6

Ethan Martin - 5 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, HR, 4 GB, 7 FB
Cesar Hernandez - 1 for 5, R, 2 K
Cody Asche - 1 for 4, 2 R, RBI, BB, K
Darin Ruf - 2 for 4, 3 R, HR, BB, K
Cameron Rupp - 2 for 5, R, 2 K
Mauricio Robles - 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER.

The Iron Pigs have won two in a row. They close out the 4 game series with Toledo tonight. "Bad" Martin made an appearance last night. He was hit up with a 2-run homer after walking a batter in the 1st, but settled down until the 6th. After giving a leadoff single to top-prospect Nick Castellanos, he then walked another batter before being pulled. Consequentially, both inherited runners came around the score. Despite this, the Pigs offense stayed hot and got another home run from Ruf, who is 10 for 29 in his last 8 games (with 5 BB to boot). The strikeouts remain high with Ruf, but the hits and walks will surely get the attention of Phillies brass if this production continues. Lehigh is now 1st in the Wild card race. (wooo!!)

Reading 9, Portland 8

Brody Colvin - 2.2 IP, 5 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 4 BB, 2 K, HR, 3 GB, 1 FB
Chase Utley - 0 for 4
Jim Murphy - 4 for 4, 2 HR, 4 RBI, BB
Zach Collier - 1 for 5, 3 K
Anthony Hewitt - 0 for 4, R, BB, 2 K (fielding error)
Sebastian Valle - 2 for 5, R, HR, K
Tyson Gillies - 1 for 5, RBI

After an encouraging start last Thursday, Colvin threw up his worst start of the season. The Fightin's pulled through in thanks to 7 1/3 innings of scoreless relief and the bats of Jim Murphy, Tyler Henson and Sebastian Valle. Reading will look to close out the series tonight versus Portland.

Daytona 4, Clearwater 3

Nick Hernandez - 5.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, BB, 3 K, HR, 7 GB, 4 FB
Kelly Dugan - 1 for 5
Harold Martinez - 0 for 5, K (throwing error)
Christ Serritella - 3 for 4, R, K
Severino Gonzalez - 1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 K
Juan Sosa - 2 IP, BB, 2 K

11 hits I guess weren't enough for the Threshers to defeat Daytona. Perhaps the promotion of Franco is showing immediate effects? (kidding of course) After being within 1 game of the division lead, they have now fallen back to 3 games behind Dunedin.

State College 8, Williamsport 3

Josh Warner - 4 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 2 ER, BB, 3 K, 4 GB, 3 FB
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 5
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 3, R, BB, CS (outfield assist)
Zach Green - 1 for 4, K
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 3, K
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K

Williamsport was cruising until the 4th when Josh Warner ran into some trouble giving up 3 R (2 ER) in the inning. The following inning Warner was replaced by Ramon Oviedo whom didn't fare any better.
