Right handed reliever Michaels Stutes, he of the flowing hair and high school good looks, is now on the disabled list with right biceps tendonitis. Stutes was fantastic for his first 11 appearances, with 13 2/3 innings pitched and an ERA of 1.32. In his final two innings in relief (three games), he gave up seven earned runs on four hits and five (five!) walks, for an ERA of 31.50. Not good. Stutes spent much of last year on the DL, and was sent to AAA to start 2013. He was called up on May 23.
But what are we getting in return? J.C. Ramirez's trade buddy, Phillippe Aumont, is being called back up. Aumont was sent down to AAA right before Michael Stutes was called up. In the majors, Aumont had a 4.15 ERA in 13 innings pitched, which included 10 walks, 15 strikeouts, and a 2.08 WHIP. He didn't fare better in AAA, though, practically vomiting walks at will like in The Exorcist. In 10 2/3 innings, he has an ERA of 6.75 and given up 15 walks and seven wild pitches. That's... bad.
Fasten your seat belts. It's going to be a... I'll let the glorious Ms. Bette Davis take it from here.
