Phillies Minor League Roundup, June 25, 2013

USA TODAY Sports

Durham 3, Lehigh Valley 1

Raul Valdes - 7 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 8 GB, 8 FB
Cesar Hernandez - 1 for 3, BB, SB
Cody Asche - 1 for 2, 2 BB (picked off)
Darin Ruf - 0 for 4, 3 K
Cameron Rupp - 1 for 4, 2B, K
Mauricio Robles - 1 IP, K

Despite a notable effort by veteran Valdes, the Iron Pig offense fell a bit flat. Reliever Mauricio Robles has been extremely effective this season holding batters to a .195 AVG with 44 K's in 38.2 IP. He might be a guy the big club turns to if the team finds themselves with a shortage of relievers or out of the race.

Reading 0, New Hampshire 0 (suspended after 2 innings)

Jesse Biddle - 2 IP, H, BB, 1 GB, 2 FB
Tyson Gillies - 1 for 2, 2B
Maikel Franco - 0 for 1 (bum)
Sebastian Valle - 0 for 1
Zach Collier - 0 for 0, BB

The game was suspended due to rain and will be completed on 6/26 as part of a double header.

Tampa 10, Clearwater 3

Nick Hernandez - 4.1 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 6 ER, BB, 7 K, 3 GB, 2 FB
Aaron Altherr - 1 for 4, 2B, 2 K
Kelly Dugan - 2 for 3, HR, BB, K
Tommy Joseph - 0 for 3
Chris Serritella - 0 for 4, K
Harold Martinez - 2 for 4, 2 K

Things didn't go terribly wrong for Hernandez until he was roughed up in the 5th, but that was enough to sink the Threshers. They are 3-5 since the All-Star break. Kelly Dugan with another homer and productive game. I would be of the thought that he might need to be moved up to AA-Reading to see what we really have with him and if we need to protect him in the upcoming Rule-5 draft. Tommy Joseph remains on the rehab trail through the Phillies minors following his concussion earlier in the season.

Delmarva 7, Lakewood 6

Kevin Walter - 4 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 6 BB, 2 K, HR, WP, 5 GB, 4 FB
Brian Pointer - 2 for 5, 2B, 3B
Mitch Walding - 2 for 5, RBI, K
Willie Carmona - 2 for 5, HR, K
Larry Greene - 2 for 3, R, BB
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 4, K

This wasn't an easy one to swallow for the Blue Claws after coming back to tie it. They lose in the bottom of the 9th on a bases loaded 2-out single to end the game.

Williamsport 3, Batavia 3 (suspended after 5 innings)

Shane Martin - 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 K, 6 GB, 3 FB
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 1, 2 R, 2B, BB
Zach Green - 2 for 2, 2B, HR, 3 RBI (fielding error)
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 2, K

Game was suspended due to power failure...or at least that is what MiLB is telling me. Apparently a lightning storm knocked out the power and was followed by heavy rain anyway. Shane Martin pitched well after struggling a bit in his first start. Green remains the driving force of the offense. Also a nice game by Cozens! This game will be completed on 8/29 as part of a double header.
