NLDS game times announced

Something else we've never had to deal with before: the weirdness of MLB postseason start times. The Phils are playing two afternoon games, then two late-night weekend games, then an early-evening finale.

Here's the schedule:

Gm 1 (HOME): Wed, Oct. 3,  3 pm
Gm 2 (HOME): Thu, Oct. 4, 3 pm
Gm 3 (away):    Sat, Oct. 6, 9:30 pm
*Gm 4 (away): Sun, Oct. 7, 10 pm
*Gm 5 (HOME): Tue, Oct. 9,  6:30 pm
*if neccessary

All games will be on TBS.

I now hate both the Red Sox and the Yankees.  A pox on both your houses.

Re: NLDS game times announced
I'm gonna have to skip class to see the games. 3pm? Garbage. Who's do they think will be watching TV at 3pm?

Re: NLDS game times announced
Is this your first time watching playoff baseball?  Because daytime games in the Division Series are the norm.  I'm actually pretty psyched we got 3pm instead of the possibility of 1:30 which was reported previously -- we knew, after all, that we wouldn't be in primetime with the Yanks and BoSox around.

Re: NLDS game times announced
Actually, considering I was 6 in '93 and have little recollection of everything before the last game of the NLCS and the World series, it  will, in fact, be the first time watching every game of any NLDS. Can I really be faulted for this? No Phillies, no phun.

Re: NLDS game times announced
Just my luck...

I get to proctor the after-school waiting room on both days, but there is no cable in those particular classrooms.

Playoff matchups by TV market size:

NY #1 vs Cleveland #16

LA #2 vs Boston #5

Chic #3 vs Phoenix #14

Phillies #4 vs SD #26 or Denver #18

Re: NLDS game times announced
This is a good thing.  Local young fans can watch some of the games for once

"All games will be on TBS."

Great. I take it that they won't be moving the games onto a regular broadcast station in the markets with a team in the playoffs? That would be in keeping with Bud The Dud's master plan to make sure as few fans watch the post season as possible.

Re: NLDS game times announced
As part of the deal for the playoffs, TBS gets exclusive rights so no over the air TV (this is different than the past where ESPN games were carried OTA in the markets of the two involved teams).  However, cable/satellite coverage is pretty pervasive at this point and TBS is one of the most common channels carried, so I don't know if it's such a big deal at this point in time.

FWIW, NBA playoff games on TNT are also cable-exclusive.

It's a big deal if you don't have cable and you want to watch!

Re: biggest game of the year
I know they're hot right now, but I refuse to be scared by a team that starts Josh Fogg, Yorvit Torrealaba, and Kaz Matsui in an elimination game.

Re: NLDS game times announced
That Rockies team has the one of the whitest lineups I've ever seen on a baseball field. It's almost blinding. The pitching staff is a little more diverse at least.

Hey GoodPhighters... in case you're interested, your favorite Phillies beat writer, Marcus Hayes, is on Radio Times with guest host Dave Davies right now.  It's on 91FM or you can listen live at www.whyy.org.

Feel free to call in and ask Marcus a couple of "questions."
