Protection: What the numbers say

Here's some data to aid in the Protection debate. I compiled, from Retrosheet (bless their souls), every Phillies PA from 2006. What's shown below (available here as a PDF, and here as an HTML file) is every Phillies batter, their 2006 composite line, and their line broken down by "protector" for everyone who followed them in 2006. If there's interest, I'll post each person's "protection" stats - basically a re-sort of this data to show how every they PROTECTED hit. Without further ado....

Re: Protection: What the numbers say
Good stuff.  Lots to digest, but still shows to me that Howard should hit behind Burrell.

I don't know what is worse.  Feigning ignorance, which this organization could do, or ignoring now that we bring much of this stuff to light.

David Dellucci magic
Almost everyone who hit in front of Dellucci for any chunk of time did as well as they usually did or much much better.  Did he have magical powers in the on-deck circle that he used against opposing pitchers?
