The Boston Globe speculates that Philadelphia is a possible destination for SP Ben Sheets. Frankly, I don't see it happening, barring Sheets taking a well below market contract with lots of money deferred to later seasons, or the Phillies moving some salary (anyone want Geoff Jenkins? Anyone...?). And, the Globe seems to be the only source reporting this. So don't count on it. But, news is really slow right now. So discuss...

On the upside, the Mets didn't get him. On the downside, we didn't get him. And the Braves are better. I still can't imagine them topping the Phillies and Mets next season. And maybe not even the Marlins.

Right-handed bat off bench? IF he can be had cheaply, it might not be the worst move in the world. He can play multiple positions (albeit poorly in many cases) and can still hit lefties. Will he really come cheap? Remember when we debated "Who's Better? Jeter, A-Rod, or Nomar?"

$600,000 minor league contract, sez the Denver Post. Insurance for a long Chase Utley layoff, it seems. Jason Donald must need some yellow discipline.
