15 days with a bone contusion.
PHILADELPHIA -- Catcher Mike Lieberthal was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday, a day after being hit in the left knee by a John Thomson fastball.

Calling the injury a bone contusion, Philadelphia called up catcher Carlos Ruiz from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Ruiz was batting .385 in 25 games for the Red Barons. This is his eighth season in the Phillies organization.

Here's hoping Ruiz dazzles. He's off to a great start with Scranton (1.085 OPS) after two straight solid seasons in the high minors; he caught Gavin Floyd in each of the last two years, and obviously developed some quick chemistry with Cole Hamels judging from Cole's first two triple-A starts. It's never been clear that the team regards him as a potential replacement for Lieberthal--Ruiz is 27 and is most often compared to previous middling catcher prospect Johnny Estrada--but he's got a great chance to change some minds in the front office.
And if his performance helps get the team and town past their unfortunate fixation with Salvatore Frank Fasano and his facial hair, that's even better.
