Rowand or Lowell?

Maybe I'm wrong about this, but I think it's a fair premise that given their resources and other needs--rhymes with "itching"--the Phillies will make just one big investment in a position player this offseason. If that's so, the choice might come down to re-signing incumbent CF Aaron Rowand, or inking Red Sox 2b Mike Lowell.

Both guys are coming off career years, both are probably in their late peak years (Rowand is 30, Lowell is 32), both are regarded as plus defenders and good clubhouse guys. Speculation is that each will want a three to five year deal with an average value north of $10 million per.

The Phils have clear in-house options other than Rowand, with both Shane Victorino and Michael Bourn arguably ready for full-time duty in center field. At third base, nobody seems particularly happy with the incumbent platoon of Greg Dobbs and Wes Helms, so if it's not Lowell, the likelihood is another free agent signing, or a trade for someone like Joe Crede or, perhaps, Garrett Atkins.

What do you think? Vote in the poll (hit "comment") and explain why you'd prefer Rowand or Lowell here.
