The Marlins and Mets both lost to sub-.500 teams this afternoon, giving the Phillies an opportunity to create some daylight between themselves and their NL East pursuers. To do it, they'll need starter Brett Myers to turn in a second straight positive performance. Last Tuesday, Myers had his best game in nearly two months with seven-plus innings of one-run ball at Washington. He'll try to repeat against a considerably stronger Cardinals lineup tonight; for his career, Myers is 3-2, 5.43 in 11 games (9 starts) facing St. Louis. He'll be opposed by Todd Wellemeyer, whom the Phillies lit up for eight runs in 3 1/3 innings on June 13 in a 20-2 victory.
