March 18, 2009 - Phillies Breakfast Links

Last night Team USA rallied from a two run deficit to defeat Puerto Rico 6-5 in the World Basball Classic, and reached the semi-finals for the first time.  David Wright drove in Jimmy Rollins for the winning run.  Go get a cup of coffee, let that process for a minute, then move on.

What's the Hamels Haps?  No structural damage, but inflammation.  They gave him a shot.  Rich Dubee thinks he's a longshot for Opening Night.

Brett Myers, for his part, struck out seven over 5 2/3 scoreless in Grapefruit League action against Cincinnati.  The Phillies won, 8-1.

The Phillies come through for some Make-a-Wish kids.

Can anyone really be this dense?

And last but not least, Charlie Manuel was not happy with his team's performance in their 12-0 shellacking at the hands of the Yankees on Monday:

“We made mistakes. We made a hell of lot of (bleeping) mistakes,” Manuel said. “Any game like that (ticks) you off. The best thing you can do is to (bleeping) get on the bus and forget about that (bleep). If I played in that (bleeping) game, I would definitely (bleeping) take inventory of myself. It was a horse(bleep) game … I’d say we hit (bleeping) rock bottom there for a while.”
