Young and the Rested: Padres at Phillies Game Thread, April 17, 2009

The Phillies head home to a somber Citizens Bank Park after the worst 3-2 road trip imaginable for a four game set with the San Diego Padres. The games this weekend will play almost like an afterthought to the memorial services scheduled for the late broadcaster Harry Kalas. But, they will be played.

The Padres are one of the biggest surprises in baseball thusfar, sitting at 7-3 after taking two of three from the Mets in the inaugural series at Citi Field. All this after most pundits penciled them in for 100 losses. They probably won't keep this up. Okay, they definitely won't. But they're certainly playing well right now.

Cole Hamels goes for the Phillies against the 6'10" Princetonian Chris Young. Hamels looks to improve on his career worst start last weekend in Colorado, and attempts to put the Phillies fans' minds at ease regarding the health of his possible creaky elbow. Young looks to continue his hot start.
