Brad Lidge blew his first save since September 23, 2007. He entered the game in the ninth to protect a 5-4 lead. He left the game with the Phillies down 8-5, getting only two outs and giving up four runs.
And he got a standing ovation from the home crowd.
If anyone ever says that Philadelphia fans are not intelligent fans, don't support their players, or are too hard on their stars, you can point them to tonight. Brad Lidge had a perfect season last year. And the fans, as classy as ever, showed their appreciation tonight, after he blew a 1 run lead by giving up 4 runs.
Thank you for last year, Brad. The team couldn't have done it without you.
