Sauce for the Goose: Phillies at Nationals, Game Thread the First, May 16, 2009

The Phillies will be playing a twinight doubleheader today versus the Washington Nationals thanks to an April rainout. Last night, the Phillies burned through their bullpen and bench and will badly need a strong, seven inning start from Brett Myers. The Nationals will be sending butthole lefty Scott Olsen to the mound in a matchup of awkward looking starters with anger management issues. Who to root for?

The only good news is that the Nationals are in worse shape. I guess it's good that the Phillies were in better shape even prior to last night's barn burner. But the way the middle of the Phillies lineup is struggling right now, they need all the help they can get.

Please Brett, go out and win. A shutout would be helluva nice.
