No Pressure, Ollie: Mets at Phillies Game Thread, May 2, 2009

So we're some lucky ducks and are getting treated to a national broadcast on FOX this afternoon. Yippie!

The entire nation's eyes will be on Oliver Perez, who, if you believe WFAN and the Daily News, will be pitching for his spot in the rotation today versus the Phillies and Jamie Moyer. Luckily for Ollie, he's owned the Phillies in recent seasons, so perhaps that will continue.

A thought -- maybe it's best for the Phillies if Ollie pitches well today (just slightly worse than Moyer). That way he'll stay in the rotation and crap the bed versus the rest of the league. I still think I'd prefer the win, however.

The most notable omission from the lineup is Greatest Person Alive Chase Utley, who will sit on the bench in favor of Eric Bruntlett. Makes sense to rest him versus the "tough" lefty, and I'm sure Charlie Manuel will be handling him gingerly as well due to the offseason hip surgery. And I'm sure he'll be available for late pinch hitting duty or double switcheroos.

Discuss the game below. Hopefully we don't get Tim McCarver today...
