Interleague Play 2009 (ugh) begins tonight across MLB, with the marquee matchup tonight in the Bronx, as the defending World Champion Philadelphia Phillies head to New York to take on the 26 time (UGH) World Champion New York Yankees.
The Yankees are absolutely on fire right now, winners of nine in a row, several of those wins in dramatic walk-off fashion. The Phillies, for their part, are doing pretty nicely themselves, having won six of their last seven, all on the road.
Brett Myers starts for the Phillies against free agent acquisition A.J. Burnett. The much discussed short right field porch in the new House that Derek Built could pose a significant problem for homer-prone right hander Myers. Hopefully he can miss enough bats to keep the game honest.
