The Phillies return home after another disastrous trip to the Steel City to face probably the most plausibly important July series in years.
The visiting Braves enter the series five games ahead of the third place Phillies. A Phillies sweep would vault the Phillies right back into contention, while an Atlanta sweep would be a rather large nail in the coffin of the Phillies' hopes of claiming a fourth straight NL East title. A split of any kind benefits the Braves, in all likelihood.
Fortunately, Roy Halladay goes tonight for the Phillies, and will be opposed by noted Phillie-killer Derek Lowe. Except for that 2008 NLCS, ha ha.
