In a spirit of kinship reminiscent of the days of yore, The Good Phight and Talking Chop share a succinct description of today's NL East race.
Write your own recap if you'd like. I'm speechless right now, and couldn't describe what happened this afternoon even if I wanted to.
Felt like the same gut punch in this affair, though less for the late dramatics than the simple fact that the Phillies lost a Roy Halladay vs. J.A. Happ matchup. The offense once again scuffled, leaving 13 men on base, getting picked off 3rd on a totally innocuous play (stop listening to Jayson Werth for baserunning tips, Ben Francisco), and otherwise failing to put it all together for the umpteenth time in a row against a pesky Astros.
The Phils will look to avert a 4-game sweep tomorrow afternoon at 1:05, when Kyle Kendrick takes on lefty control artist (and new Astros ace) Wandy Rodriguez. Get out ya brooms, folks.
Phillies remain 2.5 back of the Braves in the NL East and are tied with San Francisco for the wild card lead after both teams lost today.
