Some Monday Links For You, March 7, 2011: Injury Duty

The Phillies lost to the Yankees today in Grapefruit League play, 7-1. Roy Oswalt was hit pretty hard: 2.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 2 HR. Don't worry about it. I think I read somewhere that he usually throws mostly fastballs in his first few ST outings just to fine tune his command. The Phillies' bats only managed five hits on the day. Prolific slugger Wilson Valdez drove in their lone run with a solo shot.

Phillies:

No word on Utley's status
Naturally, because he's dead.

Brown Looking Up Despite Broken Hand
John Clark: the most annoying man in Philly sports media. Brown will have surgery tomorrow, reportedly.

Brown’s bad break limits Phillies’ flexibility
No duh.

It’s official: Halladay to start on opening day
No duh.

Roy Halladay All-Access
Interesting stuff at the end when they discuss Halladay's changeup grip. Maybe Dubee is to thank for a bit of his success last year. That pitch was really good for him.

Thinking About A Rollins Contract Extension
I guess we'll see how he does this year.

Jake Borup Interview
Hate to say it, but I think we are reaching a point of Phillies prospect overexposure. What with their strong presence on twitter and all. That said, interesting interview over at Phuture Phillies.

A renewed call for baseball to move the All-Star Game away from Arizona
Not likely, but I support the idea.

MLB, union, umps meet about issues of concern
The meeting was held in Potsdam, Germany for some reason.

Luke Scott’s offseason workout plan: Lots of lumberjacking
I actually think it's kind of great that a paranoid, right-wing yokel like Scott gets to spend his regular seasons in Baltimore.

Jon Heyman is really good at breaking stories. It's when he actually starts trying to make arguments about baseball that he goes off the deep end.
