As we well know by now, Cole Hamels's Southern California affectations don't always sit well with Philadelphia fans. At home in San Diego, however, he fits right in. It might be that the dreamy one feels more comfortable pitching in front of the hometown crowd or it might just be that Petco Park is more spacious than Placido Polanco's cranium, but in 4 starts and 28.2 innings there, Cole Hamels has a 1.57 ERA and a .73 WHIP.
He'll get the ball tonight against lefty Clayton Richard who very quietly posted a 3.75/3.81/4.04 line over 201.2 innings last season.
Discuss.
