Some of the Marbles: Braves at Phillies Game Thread, May 8, 2011

The Phillies and Braves square off tonight in Philadelphia in a game three rubber match of this current series, with the winner getting bragging rights until... next weekend's matchup in Atlanta.

Cole Hamels, who dominated the Braves (7 IP, 0 R, 8 K) on April 10th at Turner Field, pairs up against Jair Jurrjens, who is capably bouncing back from an injury-plagued 2010 to the tune of a 3-0 record and a 1.52/2.66/3.42 ERA/FIP/xFIP so far in 2011. He's still not striking batters out (5.46 K/9) but he's inducing a ridiculous number of ground balls (52.2%) and hardly walking anyone (1.52 BB/9), a recipe for success regardless of your ability to miss bats.
