As tweeted by one Michael Schwimer last night, the Phillies have recalled infielder Hector Luna, and lefty relievers Raul Valdes and Jake Diekman to Philadelphia. See here.

To make room, Laynce Nix was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left calf strain, and Triple-A reliever Justin De Fratus was placed on the 60 day disabled list with right elbow issues. Reliever Brian Sanches was outrighted to Triple-A.

The "exciting" move here is Diekman, the sidearmmin' lefty who was a favorite of Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee in spring training, and has pitched extremely well for Lehigh Valley so far this spring (15 innings, 22 strikeouts, three walks, no home runs).

Luna provides infield depth, and Raul Valdes gives owners of "RAAAUULLLL" shirts a reason to go on living.

The De Fratus move is mostly a formality, as the righty reliever is likely to miss considerably more time due to his wonky pitching elbow, as he and struggling Phillippe Aumont have not provided the bullpen depth that most of us had hoped for this offseason.
