We may finally be seeing the light. Phillies second baseman Chase Utley is scheduled to begin a rehabilitation assignment tomorrow in Clearwater. He will play designated hitter at the beginning, eventually easing into play at second base, reports Corey Seidman at CSNPhilly.com.
Utley, 33, posted a .259/.344/.425 line in 2011, by far his worst totals since 2004. Phillies second basemen in 2012 have put up .262/.283/.412 totals.
The rehab assignment will start a 20 day clock, with the latest Utley can return now being July 2nd, barring any set-backs.
