It's Ruben Amaro, Jr.'s favorite day of the year, and the General Manager finds himself in a vastly different position than he was in in the previous three seasons. With the team 11 games under .500, and 12 games back of a Wild Card spot in the loss column, it's probably more than safe to say that the season is sunk.
So, we watch for developments that have impact on the future. A big one is Roy Halladay, who has been a shadow of his former self this season, even after resting for nearly two months. Halladay's health and effectiveness going forward is a very important factor in how the team will perform in 2013, and perhaps beyond.
Halladay pitches today against the Braves and Tim Hudson, hoping to avoid a sweep that would all but officially euthanize the team's playoff hopes.
