Lehigh Valley 8, Syracuse 6

J.C. Ramirez 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 HBP
Justin De Fratus 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Phillippe Aumont 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K

Tom Cochran started on the mound and pitched poorly. Jason Pridie homered. John Suomi and Andres Blanco each reached base four times.

Reading 6, Richmond 4

Brody Colvin 5.0 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 0 HR, 1 HBP, 6 GB, 10 LD, 6 FB
Kyle Simon 3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Jiwan James 1 for 5, 2 K
Cody Asche 4 for 5, 2B, K
Cesar Hernandez 2 for 4, BB
Darin Ruf 0 for 3, BB, SF
Sebastian Valle 1 for 4, threw out 1 of 2
Leandro Castro 0 for 3, K, SF

A bit of a rough AA debut for Colvin. He seems to have pitched worse than his 5.40 ERA on the night indicates. But that's okay. It was also Simon's first "real" outing at AA -- immediately after he was traded, he made one appearance there because they needed all hands on deck for a doubleheader, but he'd been at Clearwater ever since.

St. Lucie 3, Clearwater 2

Perci Garner 5.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 1 HR, 8 GB, 2 LD, 7 FB (1 pop)
Kenneth Giles 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K, 0 HR (Clearwater debut)
Mike Nesseth 2.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 0 HR
Zach Collier 0 for 4, 3 K
Cameron Rupp 1 for 3, BB, 2 K, threw out 0 of 1
Anthony Hewitt 1 for 4, 2 K, error
Harold Martinez 0 for 4, K
Edgar Duran 0 for 3, K

Very Giles-esque Hi-A debut for Giles. In his last 10 outings at Lakewood (16.2 innings), he had 26 K, 10 BB, and a 3.78 ERA. (In his last three, he had 0 R, 13 K, 0 BB in 7.0 innings.) In other news, Zach Collier is mired in a 2 for 20 slump.

Lakewood 9, Delmarva 1

Moises Rivas 5.2 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HR, 1 HBP, 6 GB, 3 LD, 9 FB (1 pop)
Yari Sosa 2.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
Zach Cooper (15th round) 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
Tim Carver (19th round) 3 for 4, 3 2B, BB, PO/CS
Kelly Dugan 2 for 3, HR, K, HBP
William Carmona (11th round) 1 for 5, K
Maikel Franco 3 for 4, HR
Brian Pointer 1 for 2, 2 BB, K
Gabriel Lino 0 for 4, PB
Alejandro Villalobos 0 for 4, 2 K

This game was, in many ways, a fitting microcosmic end to July for the BlueClaws. After hitting poorly for most of the season, the Lakewood offense really turned it on last month, led by last night's stars of the game, Kelly Dugan (.374/.457/.589 in July) and Maikel Franco (.327/.389/.496 in July). Also, Gabriel Lino had another passed ball, bringing his season total to an astounding 21. Even so, the scouting reports seem to be bullish on his defense.

Short season team stats after the jump...

Williamsport was off yesterday.

GCL Phillies 8, GCL Pirates 6

Kevin Walter GS, 0.2 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 0 HR
Marek Minarik 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 HBP
Drew Naylor 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K (begins injury rehab)
Mitch Gueller (Comp-A round) 3.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 0 HR, 10
Keivi Rojas 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 0 K
Luis Morales 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
Angelo Mora 0 for 3, K, SF, error
Carlos Tocci 2 for 2
Andrew Pullin (5th round) 2 for 3, BB, K, outfield assist
Willians Astudillo 3 for 4, 2B, 0 K
Zach Green (3rd round) 0 for 4, K
Steven Golden (13th round) 1 for 2, K
Dylan Cozens (2nd round) 0 for 1, BB, K

G-Phils won despite making 6 errors in the game. Keivi Rojas' first rough outing of the year. He's been very good for the most part.
