Brody Colvin 5.0 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 0 HR, 1 HBP, 6 GB, 10 LD, 6 FB

Cesar Hernandez 2 for 4, BB
Darin Ruf 0 for 3, BB, SF
Sebastian Valle 1 for 4, threw out 1 of 2
Leandro Castro 0 for 3, K, SF
A bit of a rough AA debut for Colvin. He seems to have pitched worse than his 5.40 ERA on the night indicates. But that's okay. It was also Simon's first "real" outing at AA -- immediately after he was traded, he made one appearance there because they needed all hands on deck for a doubleheader, but he'd been at Clearwater ever since.
St. Lucie 3, Clearwater 2
Perci Garner 5.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 1 HR, 8 GB, 2 LD, 7 FB (1 pop)
Kenneth Giles 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K, 0 HR (Clearwater debut)
Mike Nesseth 2.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 0 HR

Cameron Rupp 1 for 3, BB, 2 K, threw out 0 of 1
Anthony Hewitt 1 for 4, 2 K, error
Harold Martinez 0 for 4, K
Edgar Duran 0 for 3, K
Very Giles-esque Hi-A debut for Giles. In his last 10 outings at Lakewood (16.2 innings), he had 26 K, 10 BB, and a 3.78 ERA. (In his last three, he had 0 R, 13 K, 0 BB in 7.0 innings.) In other news, Zach Collier is mired in a 2 for 20 slump.
Lakewood 9, Delmarva 1
Moises Rivas 5.2 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HR, 1 HBP, 6 GB, 3 LD, 9 FB (1 pop)

Maikel Franco 3 for 4, HR
Brian Pointer 1 for 2, 2 BB, K
Gabriel Lino 0 for 4, PB
Alejandro Villalobos 0 for 4, 2 K
This game was, in many ways, a fitting microcosmic end to July for the BlueClaws. After hitting poorly for most of the season, the Lakewood offense really turned it on last month, led by last night's stars of the game, Kelly Dugan (.374/.457/.589 in July) and Maikel Franco (.327/.389/.496 in July). Also, Gabriel Lino had another passed ball, bringing his season total to an astounding 21. Even so, the scouting reports seem to be bullish on his defense.
