You know who's having a decent year this year? D'Arby Myers. He was drafted out of high school waaay back in 2006 and did great in GCL, but then dropped completely off the prospect map with disastrous seasons in both 2007 and 2008. He had been sputtering along at the A-ball levels ever since and had long since been forgotten, but he OPS'd .788 over 74 PA at Clearwater to begin this year, finally earning himself a promotion to Reading, where he now has a respectable .721 OPS in 78 PA at AA. (Small samples, obviously.) And what's really shocking is that he's still only 23 years old. The odds that he'll ever return to being a full-fledged prospect are very slim, of course. But no matter what happens, this is a pretty nice story of perseverance.

Even though the trade just happened a few days ago, I had totally forgotten about Rosin. It's a mild surprise that they're using him as a starter: he'd been a reliever, for the most part, in the Giants organization. In contrast, Kyle Simon, who came over in the Jim Thome trade, had been a starter in the Baltimore organization, but they're now using him as a reliever. Who knows.

Kleven has really been all over the place this year. He's had some brilliant games, and some total clunkers. This outing fell into the latter category. Also, the BlueClaws offense couldn't manage a single XBH in this game.

This was probably Musser's best game as a pro. He's had a very difficult season so far, with 21 BB, 12 K, and a 9.00 ERA in 24.0 IP. I don't know whether 2B Gustavo Gonzalez is a prospect or not, but he homered in this game.
