Phillies Minor League Roundup, August 7, 2012

I couldn't think of any photos that would actually be relevant to tonight's roundup, so here's one of Hector Luna instead. (Photo by Brian Garfinkel/Getty Images)

Lehigh Valley and Lakewood were off last night.

Trenton 4, Reading 3

Trevor May 5.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 0 HR, 1 HBP, 6 GB, 7 LD, 4 FB
D'Arby Myers 1 for 4, BB, K, 2 SB
Cody Asche 1 for 5, K, error
Darin Ruf 1 for 5, 2B, 3 K
Tommy Joseph 2 for 4, K
Leandro Castro 1 for 3, BB

Another okay start for May, but unfortunately, also his second straight with an "L." In other news, the R-Phils have acquired a journeyman second baseman named Jake Opitz. Hooray.

Tampa 9, Clearwater 3

Jesse Biddle 5.1 IP, 7 H, 8 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 3 HR, 5 GB, 6 LD, 7 FB (1 pop)
Tyson Gillies 0 for 3, 2 K, HBP
Zach Collier 0 for 3, BB
Anthony Hewitt 2 for 4, 2B, HR, 2 K
Cameron Rupp 1 for 3, BB, threw out 0 of 3
Harold Martinez 1 for 4
Edgar Duran 0 for 4, 2 K, error

Biddle has been consistently inconsistent over the last several weeks.

Short season team stats after the jump...

Williamsport 6, Mahoning Valley 2

Kevin Brady (10th round) 5.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 0 HR, 1 SH, 4 GB, 5 LD, 3 FB
Andrew Aizenstadt 3.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K
Roman Quinn 0 for 4, BB, K, SB, error
Cameron Perkins (6th round) 0 for 4, K
Christopher Serritella (4th round) 2 for 4, K
Zach Taylor (12th round) 1 for 3, HBP
Mitch Walding 0 for 1, BB, SH, SF
Yan Olmo 1 for 3, SF
Logan Moore 0 for 4, K
Tyler Greene 1 for 4, HR, 2 K

Brady continues to roll. Last night's outing brought his K/BB ratio to 26-1 over 18.2 IP at W-port -- though this was technically not an improvement since he had zero walks before the game and so his K/BB used to be ∞. Kudos also go to Baaaahston's own Andrew Aizenstadt, who has yet to give up a run since signing as an UDFA a couple of weeks ago and still has a perfect K/BB at 10-0 over 8.1 IP.

GCL Phillies 5, GCL Braves 4 (10)

Ranfi Casimiro 4.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 0 HR, 3 WP, 11
Yacksel Rios 2.0 IP, 0 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 0 HR, 1 HBP
Braden Shull 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
Delvi Francisco 2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 0 HR, 2 HBP
Keivi Rojas 1.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
Carlos Tocci 1 for 3, K, SB, CS
Dylan Cozens (2nd round) 1 for 3, 2 K
Andrew Pullin (5th round) 1 for 4, BB, K
Zach Green (3rd round) 2 for 5, K
Willians Astudillo 1 for 5, 0 K
Jiandido Tromp 4 for 5, 2B, 3B, K
Francisco Silva 2 for 3, 2 HBP

LHP Shull, an overslot signing from the 2011 draft, finally made his pro debut after beginning the season on the DL. Rojas pitched well again, ho-hum. Tromp had the best game of his brief pro career. The mellifluously named Casimiro is 6'8", 200 lbs.
