Delmon Young Closes in on Rehab Assignment

Delmon Young is moving ever closer playing with the Phillies. *drinks bleach*

USA TODAY Sports

The Good Phight is a Philadelphia Phillies blog that features both news and analysis. So it's a sign of how intensely I dislike Delmon Young that I issued a weekend long blackout on Young related news. I was hoping that he'd be abducted by aliens or go to live in the wilderness or magically turn into an elephant.

Sadly, it was not to be.

Delmon Young is inching ever closer to a rehab assignment. Philly.com's Matt Gelb reported on Friday that Young played two consecutive days and should begin his assignment sometime this week. It's officially time to begin DelmonWatch 2013.

Here are a few choice Amaro quotes from Gelb's piece:

"He did OK," Amaro said.

High praise indeed!

"Delmon isn't going to come here unless he can play right field," Amaro said. "If he can't play right field, he ain't coming.

"The bat doesn't concern me nearly as much as how he's moving around and how well he's playing in the outfield. He's going to hit. I'm not that worried about that part of it. I'm more concerned about if he's going to be adequate in the outfield. So far he's been OK."

Please, use "OK" a few more times. It makes me feel so good.
