Phillies At Mets Preview

The Phillies take on the Mets in a three game series where the bullpen will probably blow a late lead.

Fresh off two four game series against the Cardinals and Pirates, the Phillies managed to win 3 of 8. A series split with the Cards, and losing 3 of 4 against the Buccos. The story of the last series was the bullpen. Philippe Aumont, Jeremy Horst, Mike Adams and the crew had their fingerprints over blown leads that the Phillies had managed to get a grasp of late.

It's safe to say there's been parts of this early season where everyone can take blame for. From the inconsistent offense, the spotty starting pitching, the bullpen and manager Charlie Manuel. From here on out, it's going to be interesting to see how the Phillies continue to play, with talks about certain Phillies already being July trade candidates (Utley pls no). With the Phillies inability to beat those weak teams they NEED to beat from supposedly benefiting from an early schedule, the Mets are one of those teams. On the pitching side, Kendrick has looked decent this season. Pettibone looked great in his Major League Debut, and Cole has bounced back to produce three straight quality starts.

If the starters can hold it down, it will be up to the offense and the otherwise solid pen to make sure the Phillies can at least take this series in Flushing. JUST GET JOHN BUCK OUT, I DON'T CARE HOW IT'S DONE.
