So what do we make of these games against the Marlins?
I mean, like, really, do we revel in the wins and get intensely upset about the losses? The narrative about the Fish being a Quad-A team would seem to suggest as much. But isn't the general point of baseball to be unpredictable and frustrating in its lack of regularity? Isn't that part of the beauty of the game? That the Phillies, or any team for that matter, could lose to what only seems to be the barest facsimile of an MLB team?
I'm honestly not sure. A big part of me wants to believe in the beauty of the game, in the sheer inexplicability of this Marlins team being anything but an immense and terrible pushover. But I'm also a fan, and as a fan, I want to overreact to every freaking thing that happens to this nonsense team!
So which is it? Baseball fan loving the beauty of the game? Fan losing it on WIP over a three game losing streak? Make a gif wall like Jeff Sullivan, or call for the team to be blown up?
Ah, why I am wondering -- they'll win tonight and take the series! Right? Discuss below.
