Phillies Minor League Roundup, July 11, 2013 - All Aboard the Asche Express

Clearwater game was cancelled due to inclement weather.

USA TODAY Sports

Buffalo 4, Lehigh Valley 1

Raul Valdes - 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 4 GB, 2 FB
Cesar Hernandez - 1 for 5, 2 K
Freddy Galvis - 1 for 5, 2B, K
Cody Asche - 2 for 4, HR, K
Leandro Castro - 0 for 4, 2 K, 2 SB
Cameron Rupp - 0 for 4, 2 K
Tyson Gillies - 1 for 4, K (outfield assist)
Jeremy Horst - 1 IP, 0 R, 3 K
Phillipe Aumont - 0.1 IP, 0 R, BB
Mauricio Robles - 1.2 IP, 1 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, K

Valdes with another fine start. He has quietly made himself into a pretty decent starter at AAA. It wouldn't surprise me if he was the next starter in line for a call up if a current Phillies rotation guy would go down with an injury. Cody Asche with his 2nd homer in as many days. Unfortunately, his run was the only one the Iron Pigs could put across. The game went into extras briefly before Mauricio Robles blew up.

New Hampshire 5, Reading 1

Jesse Biddle - 4 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, HR, 1 GB, 4 FB
Derrick Mitchell - 1 for 4, HR, 2 K
Zach Collier - 0 for 3, BB, K
Maikel Franco - 0 for 4
Kelly Dugan - 0 for 4
Tommy Joseph - 2 for 4, 2B

Not what you'd like to see from Biddle in one of his shortest outings of the year. The rest of the lineup didn't exactly help his cause either.

Lakewood 1, Rome 0

Jeb Stefan - 6 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 5 K, 6 GB, 5 FB
Ramon Oviedo - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 K
Chris Burgess - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB
Brian Pointer - 0 for 4, 2 K
Willie Carmona - 2 or 4, 2B
Larry Greene - 1 for 4, 3 K
Jonathan Roof - 1 for 4, R, 2B, K
Mitch Walding - 1 for 1, 2 BB
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 2, RBI

That's right folks, Lakewood pitchers combine for the 4th no-hitter in Blueclaw history!!! Carlos Tocci delivered a sac fly RBI to score the only run of the game. Thankfully, that would be all Lakewood would need. Lakewood has been really coming on as of late. The last 4 they were scoring runs at an incredible rate and now you see their pitching showing their stuff. Exciting!

Connecticut 6, Williamsport 4

Mitch Gueller - 3.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 4 GB, 4 FB
Gustavo Martinez - 2 for 4, 2 R, BB, 2 K, SB (outfield assist)
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI, BB
Dylan Cozens - 2 for 5, R, RBI, K, SB
Zach Green - 0 for 3, BB, K (throwing error)
Andrew Knapp - 3 for 4, 2 2B, RBI, SB, CS, picked off
Gabriel Lino - 1 for 4, K (throwing error and passed ball)
Logan Pierce - 0 for 2, R, 2 BB

Some costly errors from Green and Lino didn't help an average pitching performance. On the bright side, Knapp is hitting again and Cozens now has 7 steals on the season.

GCL Yankees1 5, GCL Phillies 2

Feliberto Sanchez - 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 2 GB, 4 FB
Jan Hernandez - 1 for 4, RBI, BB, 2 K
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 3, BB

Sanchez probably deserved a little better result than what he was given. He gave up only 3 runs, but has now only given up a combined 4 runs in his first 4 starts (17 innings), which is good for a 2.12 ERA. JP Crawford and Jose Pujols getting the night off. The offense could only come up with 6 hits on the night.
