Trenton 6, Reading 5
Austin Wright - 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, K, HR, 9 GB, 3 FB
Cesar Hernandez - 2 for 4, 2B, RBI, BB, K (fielding error)
Maikel Franco - 1 for 4, R, K (throwing error)
Kelly Dugan - 2 for 4, HR
Anthony Hewitt - 0 for 3
Sebastian Valle - 0 for 3, R, BB, K
Reading loses another gut puncher in the 9th courtesy of a costly Franco error. The Fightin's give up 3 unearned runs in the top of the 9th. They tried to rally in the bottom of the 9th, but could only push across 1 run. Cesar Hernandez getting as much CF time as possible (which RAJ indicated would happen) spending time with Reading on an off day for Lehigh Valley. Kelly Dugan with his first HR in AA. Wright is struggling at AA, which isn't all too shocking. His strikeouts are down and his walks are up at this level. Hopefully he can adjust as the season goes on. Reading sits at the bottom of the Eastern League with the worst record.
Charlotte 11, Clearwater 0
Ethan Stewart - 4.1 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 6 BB, 4 K, 2 HR, 2 GB, 6 FB
Jiwan James - 0 for 4, 2 K
Matt Tolbert - 2 for 3, BB
Cameron Perkins - 0 for 4, 2 K
Chris Serritella - 0 for 4, 3 K
Aaron Altherr - 0 for 4, 2 K
Talk about brutal games on both the mound and the batters box. Ethan Stewart puts up a Brody Colvin line and the Theshers lineup has 3 hits and 3 walks the entire game. Only 1 runner ever reached second base. Clearwater splits the 4 games series with Charlotte, but now find themselves 4.5 games back of the division leading Daytona Cubs.
Hickory 3, Lakewood 0
Nic Hanson - 6 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 4 K, 9 GB, 2 FB
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 4
Mitch Walding - 0 for 4 (two fielding errors)
Jonathan Roof - 1 for 4
Willie Carmona - 1 for 3, BB, K
Larry Greene - 0 for 3, 2 K (outfield assist)
Nic Hanson pitched an excellent game despite getting the loss. The 3 unearned runs came in the 2nd and 4th inning courtesy of a Mitch Walding and Angelo Mora error, respectively. BlueClaws muster up only 4 hits the entire game and only 5 total baserunners. Lakewood splits the 4 game series with Hickory and sit back 16 games of the division lead.
Aberdeen 3, Williamsport 1
Julio Reyes - 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 K, 6 GB, 5 FB (two pick off errors)
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 4, K
Andrew Knapp - 2 for 4, 2B, RBI, K
Zach Green - 0 for 4, K (throwing error)
Julio Reyes with a nice game only allowing 1 unearned run (on his own pickoff error) to score. Quiet game all around for the Crosscutter offense. Andrew Knapp keeps on hitting and remains in the DH role until he is able to get behind the plate again.
GCL Phillies 4, GCL Tigers 1 (Game 1 of doubleheader)
Ranfi Casimiro - 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 7 GB, 3 FB
Jair Morelos - 1 for 3, R, BB, CS (fielding error)
Robinson Torres - 2 for 4, R, 2B, RBI, picked off
JP Crawford - 1 for 2, R, 3B, BB
Wilmer Oberto - 2 for 3, R, 2 2B, 2 RBI
Nick Ferdinand - 2 for 2, BB
Jose Pujols - 0 for 3, 2 K
The GCL Phils took advantage of RISP and pushed across enough for the win. Casimiro with another good start and has been consistent in his first 4 of this season (20 IP, 7 R, 5 ER). He doesn't strike out a lot of guys, but he is still fairly young.
GCL Tigers 6, GCL Phillies 0 (Game 2 of doubleheader, makeup of 6/29 game)
Matt Southard - 3 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 K, HR, 1 GB, 1 FB
JP Crawford - 0 for 3, K
Steve Golden - 1 for 3, CS
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 3, K (outfield assist)
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 3, 2B
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, 2 K
Jose Pujols - 0 for 2, K
Mark Leiter - 1.1 IP, 2 H, BB, K
Things didn't go as well as they did in Game 1 and the Phillies also decided to go with a bullpen game. GCL Phils with only 2 hits and 3 baserunners all game didn't help the equation.
