A Little Cumpton Cumpton: Phillies at Pirates Game Thread, July 2, 2013

A little Cumpton goes a long way. (Someone stop me.)

I'm not going to waste time talking about the trade rumors today, or about what Jimmy Rollins said a few days ago, or anything like that. I'm going to get right to tonight's matchups.

Blah blah Jonathan Pettibone 4.17 ERA 3-3 record hoo hah whatever. Starting for the Pirates tonight is a pitcher with the cutest, best name ever. His name is Brandon Cumpton. I typed that last sentence three times because I keep wanting to spell it Crumpton. Like crumping or crumpets. CUMPTON! It sounds like the name someone would have in a cartoon. Or it sounds like the name of a town. The town of Cumpton. Cumpton Heights. Cumptonville. Or Crumptonville!

I think if he played for the Phillies, I would have already nicknamed him Cumpy. Or Crumpy, depending on how often my fingers slipped when typing. (It would be a lot.)

Discuss the game and the awesomeness of Brandon Cumpton's name in the comments below.
