Alright, now that I've gotten a fairly obscure, mid-90's pseudo-Dischord reference out of the way. The Phillies announced that LHP Joe Savery is going to the 15 day DL with Elbow Stiffness. Awesome. You can never use too many relivers.

In his place the Phillies called up LHP Raul Valdes. Fortunately for all of you I am not aware of any Dischord style post-hardcore bands releasing any songs called Valdes, so not song parody or whatever I tried above here. The good news here is that Valdes has actually been performing pretty well down/up in Lehigh Valley and is stretched out to work as a long man/spot starter, if needed.

On the face of things, Savery had a good ERA, but he was insanely lucky as his FIP and SIERA are 4+ runs higher and his 4.15 K/9 and 6.23 BB/9 is quite ugly. Savery hasn't pitched a ton this year (~35 total innings at all levels), so elbow pain would be fairly concerning for a guy drafted with a bit of an injury red flag. Still, this is last man in the bullpen stuff. Probably nothing to get too worked up over.
