Lehigh Valley 9, Pawtucket 1
Tyler Cloyd - 7 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 K, 8 GB, 4 FB
Leandro Castro - 1 for 5, HR, 3 RBI, K
Freddy Galvis - 0 for 3, R, 2 BB, K
Cody Asche - 2 for 5, 2 HR, 3 RBI, K
Tyson Gillies - 1 for 4, R, SB
Where has this Tyler Cloyd come from? His last 4 appearances he has gone 23 innings of 2 run ball. His ERA is still at 5.77, but you can imagine how bad he was before that. Oh, that Asche kid hit another 2 home runs. He isn't a home run hitter, but he is banging on the door of RAJ to get a chance to play with the big club. Lehigh Valley has owned Pawtucket recently. They take 3 of 4 in the series. Pwatucket features Boston's highly touted duo of Jackie Bradley Jr. and Xander Bogaerts. Oh look, Jose Contreras plays for them as well...and Will Middlebrooks...and Franklin Morales. Neat.
Erie 9, Reading 1
David Buchanan - 6.1 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, 9 GB, 3 FB
Zach Collier - 1 for 2, 2 BB, SB
Maikel Franco - 0 for 4, K
Kelly Dugan - 1 for 4, R, 2B, 2 K
Sebastian Valle - 0 for 4, K
Anthony Hewitt - 0 for 3, 2 K
Pretty much a lost game all around. David Buchanan is roughed up for the second straight start (giving up 6 ER in both starts). The offense gets 3 hit by Erie pitching. The Bash Brothers were otherwise silent this game.
Clearwater 6, Palm Beach 5
Ethan Stewart - 7 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 4 ER, BB, 4 K, HR, 5 GB, 6 FB (fielding error)
Jiwan James - 1 for 3, 2 RBI, 2 BB, CS, picked off
Aaron Altherr - 1 for 4, R, 2B
Cameron Perkins - 2 for 4, 2 R, K
Harold Martinez - 2 for 4, RBI
Stewart had a rough 6th inning and relinquished the lead. Going into the bottom of the 9th it wasn't looking good, down by 4. Aaron Altherr then leads off with a double, Perkins then singles, Carlos Alonso then singles, Stassi strikes out, Roof singles, Martinez flies out, pinch hitter Chris Serritella gets HBP, Jiwan James singles, Peter Lavin walks and then with Altherr up again...a wild pitch scores Serritella to win the game. Wild, huh?
Lakewood 5, Hagerstown 4
Ramon Oviedo - 4 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 5 GB, 3 FB
Angelo Mora - 1 for 4, 3B, RBI
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 3, R, K, HBP
Larry Greene - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K
Art Charles - 2 for 4, RBI (fielding error)
Mitch Walding - 0 for 4, R, 2 K
Brian Pointer - 1 for 2, 2 R, HR, 2 BB, K
Alejandro Villalobos - 3 for 4, R, 2B, 3B, 2 RBI
Another walk off victory for Phillie affiliates on Monday. Lakewood had blown the lead in the top of the 9th and allowed the Suns to tie it up. In the bottom of the 9th, Brian Pointer draws a walk and Villalobos lines a double into left to score Pointer.
Mahoning Valley 5, Williamsport 2
Mitch Gueller - 3.2 IP 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 K, 2 HR, 2 GB, 2 FB
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 3, BB
Zach Green - 0 for 4, 3 K (fielding error)
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 4, HR, K
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 4, 3 K
Logan Pierce - 0 for 2, BB
Gueller has been in a bit of a rut. He was killed by the long ball this game, giving up two 2-run homers in the bottom of the 4th. Zach Green with a pretty awful game all around. Yay Cozens!
Feliberto Sanchez - 4 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 3 GB, 4 FB
Herlis Rodriguez - 1 for 5, R, RBI
Robinson Torres - 1 for 4, R, RBI, BB, K
JP Crawford - 1 for 4, 2 R, 3B, 2 RBI, BB, 2 SB
Wilmer Oberto - 2 for 4, R, 3B, 2 RBI
Nick Ferdinand - 2 for 4, R, 2B, RBI, K
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 4, K
Jose Pujols - 1 for 3, R, BB, K
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 2, R, BB, SB
A 6 run 7th inning propel the GCL Phils to victory. Pretty decent games from most around. Some of these guys (Rodriguez, Crawford, Oberto, Ferdinand), will likely be called up to Williamsport before year's end. Crawford is really impressive. 2nd highest batting average and OBP in the GCL. Not bad for a kid just drafted out of high school. He has a long way to go, but doing this through this first 21 games as a professional is certainly encouraging.
