Lehigh Valley 3, Rochester 2
Adam Morgan - 4.2 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, BB, 3 K, 6 GB, 1 FB
Leandro Castro - 1 for 5, 2B, 2 RBI
Freddy Galvis - 2 for 4, R, 2B
Cameron Rupp - 2 for 4, R, 2 K
I think the real story of this game is Adam Morgan's comeback trail. He now has 3 starts under his belt since being called back up to AAA. He has gone a combined 11.2 IP, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) with 10 hits, 6 walks and 8 strikeouts. His innings have obviously been really short and I'm guessing that is somewhat calculated. I'm assuming they are building up strength. Morgan was in line for the win, but everyone's (Justin) Friend gave up a run before a Leandro Castro 2 RBI double would put them back up. Lehigh has taken 2 of 3 in the 4 game series. The final game is tonight. The win moved Lehigh back to 3.5 behind in the division and 2.5 in the wildcard.
Erie 2, Reading 0
Seth Rosin - 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 4 GB, 3 FB
Zach Collier - 1 for 4
Maikel Franco - 1 for 4, picked off (fielding error)
Kelly Dugan - 2 for 4
Anthony Hewitt - 0 for 4, 2 K
Great game for Seth Rosin, who unfortunately gets saddled with the loss. I probably wouldn't have expected Rosin to be having the most success this season of he and Tommy Joseph. Granted, Joseph has dealt with some unfortunate injuries. Reading splits the 4 game series and will be squaring off against Trenton for a weekend series.
Palm Beach 3, Clearwater 2
Perci Garner - 6 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 5 BB, 6 K, 10 GB, 2 FB
Jiwan James - 2 for 4, R, SB
Carlos Alonso - 1 for 3, K
Aaron Altherr - 0 for 2, BB (outfield assist)
Cameron Perkins - 1 for 4, RBI, K
Harold Martinez - 2 for 4, RBI, K
Kind of another hard luck loss for the Threshers. Garner wasn't exactly sharp, but only gave up 3 hits on the game and kept the ball on the ground. Altherr with another outfield assist, giving him 13 on the year. Guys should probably stop running on him. Martinez has been on fire with a slash line of .412/.432/.676 in his last 10 games with 9 RBI, 2 BB and 7 K. Clearwater splits the 4 game series and will start a weekend series with St. Lucie. They are 4.5 games back of division leading Daytona.
West Virginia 3, Lakewood 2
Nic Hanson - 8 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 K, 12 GB, 8 FB
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 4, K
Larry Greene - 1 for 4, 2B, K
Willie Carmona - 1 for 3, BB, 2 K
Art Charles - 1 for 2, 2 BB
Mitch Walding - 0 for 3, R, BB, K, SB
Brian Pointer - 1 for 4, R, K (outfield assist)
Poor Nic Hanson. His last 3 starts have been no decisions (including this one), where he has pitched 21 innings and giving up only 17 hits, 3 runs (all earned), 2 walks and 12 strikeouts. The game was tied going into the bottom of the 9th when Lakewood reliever Lino Martinez gave up a 1 out walk-off home run.
Brooklyn 9, Williamsport 4
Julio Reyes - 5 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, HR, 6 GB, 3 FB
Jiandido Tromp - 1 for 4, BB
Jairo Cardozo - 1 for 4, R, 3B, BB, K, SB
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 5, 2 K
Zach Green - 1 for 5, R, RBI, 3 K
Logan Pierce - 0 for 4, K
Samuel Hiciano - 1 for 3, HR, 2 RBI, BB
Malquin Canelo - 2 for 4, R, 2 2B, K, SB
I suppose it wasn't a good day to be a starter for a Philadelphia affiliate. Julio Reyes only gives up 1 hit before exiting. Matt Soren and Josh Warner in the bullpen would combine for 3 innings in which they give up 7 hits, 7 runs and 2 walks in route to a loss.
GCL Phillies 2, GCL Tigers 2 (suspended due to rain, will be completed on 8/16)
Jesen Therrien - 3 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 K, HR, 4 GB, 1 FB
Herlis Rodriguez - 0 for 1, BB, CS
JP Crawford - 0 for 2, K
Nick Ferdinand - 0 for 1, K
Wilmer Oberto - 0 for 0, BB
Jose PUjols - 0 for 0, BB
