Reading 8, Altoona 0
Bobby Bramhall - 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K, 9 GB, 4 FB
Austin Wright - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, K
Seth Rosin - 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, K
Troy Hanzawa - 3 for 6, 2 R, 2B, K (throwing error)
Maikel Franco - 3 for 4, 3 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, BB
Jim Murphy - 2 for 5, R, HR, 2 RBI, K
Kelly Dugan - 2 for 4, R, RBI
Anthony Hewitt - 1 for 5, R, 2B, RBI, 2 K (outfield assist, home)
Sebastian Valle - 1 for 4, BB
So many positives with this game, I'm not even sure where to begin. First off, Bobby Bramhall hasn't given up a run in his last 2 starts (11 IP). Austin Wright hadn't had a clean inning since August 2nd. Seth Rosin comes back from the 7 day DL (oddly not in the rotation, but the bullpen) and pitches a scoreless frame, albeit with some trouble. Maikel Franco was a triple short of the cycle. He blasted his 11th home run with Reading AND drew a walk. We need more games like this from him. Murphy hit his 21st home run on the season. I'd love to see the Phillies bring him up to the big club in September. Dugan with a two hit game as well. It was a pretty box score to read. Reading takes the series 3 to 1.
Tampa 4, Clearwater 2
Severino Gonzalez - 5 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 2 ER, BB, 6 K, 4 GB, 2 FB
Jiwan James - 0 for 3, BB, SB
Aaron Altherr - 2 for 4, HR, 2 K
Chris Serritella - 1 for 4, 2B
Cameron Perkins - 1 for 3, R, 2B, BB
Harold Martinez - 1 for 4, 2B, RBI (fielding error)
Gonzalez gets hit with the loss, but still puts up an encouraging line. The strikeouts are still there and he limited his walks. He is possibly going to be a fast riser in the Phillies organization if he keeps this up. Aaron Altherr doing all he can do to ensure the Phillies protect him and add him to the 40 man roster. I think it would be a smart move as I see him as a better John Mayberry Jr in the future. These teams will play the last game of the 3 game set tonight.
Hagerstown 4, Lakewood 3
Jeb Stefan - 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, 2 GB, 7 FB
JP Crawford - 1 for 4, BB, 2 K, SB
Willie Carmona - 0 for 3, BB
Larry Greene - 1 for 4, R, 2 K
Brian Pointer - 1 for 3, R, 2B, 2 K, HBP
Gabriel Lino - 1 for 4, K
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 2, K
Hagerstown would win this game after going up in the top of the 9th after Lakewood reliever Delvi Francisco gives up an RBI single. He also gave up the tying run in the top of the 8th via an RBI double. It was not a good day for Delvi. JP Crawford with another hit and stolen base. Overall the offense was a bit flat and struck out 12 times. They were 2 for 12 with RISP. Jeb Stefan with a good outing, but this GB/FB was a bit off and the walks are an issue. The swing game will be played tonight between these two teams.
State College 9, Williamsport 3
Mitch Gueller - 3.1 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 6 GB, 3 FB
Justin Parr - 0 for 3, 2 BB
Andrew Pullin - 3 for 5, 3 RBI
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 4, BB
Zach Green - 1 for 4, BB, K (throwing error)
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 4, BB, K
Logan Pierce - 4 for 5, R, 2 2B
Gustavo Martinez - 0 for 3, R, BB
Yikes. I know Mitch Gueller is a better pticher than what we are seeing, but these outings are getting worse and worse. He has given up 72 hits in only 49.1 IP. The offense in this game managed 11 hits and drew 7 walks. Somehow they were only 2 for 12 with RISP. Cozens has 7 walks in his past 10 games and has boosted his OBP this season to .386. That is pretty darn good.
GCL Braves 4, GCL Phillies 1
Ranfi Casimiro - 4 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 5 GB, 4 FB
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 3, BB
Nick Ferdinand - 0 for 3, K, HBP
Wilmer Oberto - 0 for 4, 3 K
Robinson Torres - 0 for 4
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, (2 throwing errors)
Trey Williams - 2 for 3, 2B, HR
The GCL Phils get 3 hit by the Braves. Not too many bright spots in this one. Casimiro now has 5 absolutely dreadful starts in a row. None of those starts has an ERA under 6.75. Oberto with the hat trick at the plate. Trey Williams providing 2/3 of the offense yesterday and hit his 2nd home run on the season.
