Lehigh Valley 5, Buffalo 3
David Buchanan - 7 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, HR, 10 GB, 4 FB
Mauricio Robles - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, K
Cesar Hernandez - 0 for 3, RBI, BB, K, SB
Freddy Galvis - 0 for 3, R, BB
Tyler Henson - 1 for 3, 2B, RBI, BB
Michael Martinez - 1 for 4, R (fielding error)
Leandro Castro - 1 for 4, R, K
Cameron Rupp - 1 for 4, K
Derrick Mitchell - 2 for 3, 2 R, 2B, HR, BB
Buchanan with his worst start since being called up to AAA, but earns the win. Robles with another scoreless inning. This was a big must win for the IronPigs who still sit 2.5 games out of the wildcard. Lehigh beats up on former MLBer Ricky Romero to boot. They are going to have to keep winning and get some serious help from the 2 teams above them. Cesar steals his 33rd base in the minors this season and Mitchell clubs his 13th HR run between AA and AAA. Mitchell has put together a decent season and has actually improved since his debut with AAA. He is nothing more than organizational filler though.
Reading 9, Richmond 8
Mario Hollands - 5.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, HR, 6 GB, 5 FB
Austin Wright - 2.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 K
Seth Rosin - 0.2 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 2 ER, BB, HR (fielding error)
Zach Collier - 0 for 4, R, BB, 2 K
Maikel Franco - 2 for 5, 2 R, RBI, K
Jim Murphy - 3 for 4, HR, 3 RBI, BB
Anthony Hewitt - 2 for 4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Sebastian Valle - 0 for 3, R
Edgar Duran - 2 for 4, 2 R, 3B, 2 RBI, SB
Mario Hollands pitches a good game after a rough start last Thursday. Austin Wright has a 7.1 scoreless innings streak...so that's pretty good (6 H, 4 BB 7 K). Reading entered the top of the 9th with a comfortable 7-2 lead before a combination of Seth Rosin and Hector Neris allow 6 runs to score to give Richmond the 8-7 lead. In the bottom of the 9th, Maikel Franco would deliver a 1-out single to bring up Jim Murphy who would hit a 2 run blast to win the game. Nice solid win for the Fightins. For the Francophiles out there in his last 10 games: .308/.349/.718, 39 AB, 1 2B, 5 HR, 11 RBI, 3 BB, 6 K.
Clearwater 3, Tampa 2
Severino Gonzalez - 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 5 GB, 6 FB
Peter Lavin - 1 for 3, R, BB, K (outfield assist, 2nd base)
Aaron Altherr - 0 for 3, R, RBI, BB, SB (outfield assist, 3rd base)
Chris Serritella - 0 for 3, BB, 3 K
Cameron Perkins - 0 for 3, BB, K
Brock Stassi - 0 for 3, RBI, BB, 2 K
Harold Ramirez - 0 for 2, RBI, BB
Weird game for the Threshers yesterday. They had more walks (7) than hits (3) and still managed to win the game. Severino Gonzalez was pretty spectacular again. He will likely begin the year in Reading for the 2014 season. He didn't get the win oddly enough despite only giving up 1 run. Reliever Ryan O'Sullivan would give up the go-ahead run in the top of the 9th. In the bottom of the ninth, Tampa would walk the bases loaded. They would then walk in the tying run before Harold Martinez would hit a sac fly to win the game.
Lakewood 6, Hagerstown 5
Jeb Stefan - 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, K, HR, 10 GB, 6 FB
JP Crawford - 1 for 5, R
Willie Carmona - 1 for 5, R, 2B
Art Charles - 1 for 4, HR, 3 RBI
Brian Pointer - 1 for 3, R, 3B, BB
Chace Numata - 1 for 3, 2 R, BB
Larry Greene - 0 for 4, K
Gabriel Lino - 1 for 3, 2B, 2 RBI
Stefan with a quality start, but nothing spectacular and wins his 5th on the season. JP Crawford with another hit and has an 8 game hitting streak. He has reached base in all 9 games with Lakewood since being promoted. Lakewood holds onto win despite a late surge by Hagerstown. It's great to see Lakewood beat a good team.
State College 5, Williamsport 3
Drew Anderson - 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 6 K, 3 GB, 4 FB
Herlis Rodriguez - 1 for 6, R, 2B
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 4, R, 2B, BB, K
Zach Green - 1 for 5, K (fielding error)
Andrew Knapp - 2 for 5, RBI, 3 K (passed ball)
Samuel Hiciano - 0 for 3, R, 2 BB, K (fielding error)
Logan Pierce - 2 for 4, BB
Gustavo Martinez - 1 for 5, RBI
Jairo Cardozo - 2 for 4, 2B
So Drew Anderson has been really good for Willaimsport this season despite being only 19. He doesn't have the swing and miss stuff, but he is holding hitters to a .213 average. He is an interesting prospect. Williamsport loses in extras after State College tied up the game in the top of the 8th. Williamsport would then give up 3 in the top of the 11th. Crosscutters would rally for 1 run in the bottom of the 11th before losing. Andrew Knapp with another multi-hit game, but the strikeouts remain high.
GCL Yankees1 8, GCL Phillies 2
Feliberto Sanchez - 5.1 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 6 GB, 6 FB
Cord Sandberg - 1 for 4, 2 RBI, K
Jair Morelos - 2 for 4
Nick Ferdinand - 0 for 4
Wilmer Oberto - 1 for 4, 2B, K
Robinson Torres - 2 for 4, 2B, SB (fielding error)
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 4, 2B (passed ball)
Jose Pujols - 1 for 4, 2B, 2 K
Jan Hernandez - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, K (fielding error)
Yikes. Feliberto doesn't get help from his defense or offense and gets saddled with the loss. Despite both teams having 10 hits, the GCL Phils were 1 for 11 with RISP and left 7 on base. Robinson Torres with a nice game and a good season with the GCL Phils (44 G 151 AB, .285/.361/.391, 8 2B, 2 HR, 17 RBI, 13 BB, 18 K, 9 SB, 1 CS). The GCL Phils are eliminated from playoff contention.
