Report: Michael Young Clears Waivers

Now that the excitement of the non-waiver trade deadline has passed, Michael Young is once again on the block, only now it's infinitely more boring.

According to Ken Rosenthal, Michael Young has cleared waivers and can be traded with his approval. Please note the mention of that ridiculous full no-trade clause that the Phillies gave him to get him to sign here.

Matt Gelb included in a subsequent tweet that the return for Young would be minimal.

I am so tired of this Michael Young business. I don't care anymore if he stays or goes. Don't! Care! Just make up your mind, man! Stay and keep sucking it up at third base, or leave and go afflict another team with your substandard defense. This is perhaps the least interesting drama ever. Why can't we have something fun? Or at least mildly interesting? I mean, there is the Papelbon stuff, but it seems like he's decided to keep his mouth shut for the time being, since he keeps pitching terribly. I'm amazed he realized that when he's screwing up, it's probably better to stop talking to the media about how the team is bad. That's quite the leap for his mind to make, so I commend him.

Oh yeah, this is supposed to be about Michael Young, not white-hot burning hatred for Jonathan Papelbon. Stay tuned for more Young news as it happens.

UPDATE 11:19am: Michael Young has been scratched today, leading to speculation that he'd been traded. Oh ho ho, not so fast!

With his appealing combination of bad defense, little power, and a hamstring issue, I'm SURE that teams will be lining up around the block to trade for him!

Now is the season of our discontent, folks. I'm amazed I'm not used to it by now.
