Phillies Minor League Roundup - August 8, 2013

Not counting the DSL, collectively the Phillies affiliates went 0 for 6 on the day, with most of the games being complete blowouts.

Jesse Biddle probably walking one of his 7 batters on the day.

Charlotte 3, Lehigh Valley 2

Tyler Cloyd - 8 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, 4 K, HR, 13 GB, 4 FB
Freddy Galvis - 0 for 4, 3 K
Steve Susdorf - 1 for 4, R
Josh Fields - 2 for 3, R, 2 2B, BB, SB
Cody Overbeck - 1 for 4, RBI, 3 K
Leandro Castro - 1 for 4, K
Tyson Gillies - 0 for 2, BB, SB

Lately Tyler Cloyd has looked much like the pitcher he was last year.  He was one out away from getting out of the bottom of the 8th of a tie game before giving up a two out double and then a home run.  The Iron Pigs would get within 1 in the top of the 9th, but would fall short.  Lehigh keeps battling to stay above .500, but it has been a struggle.  Lehigh loses the 3 of 4 in the series with Charlotte and fall 2 game out of the wild card.

Harrisburg 4, Reading 1

Jesse Biddle - 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 7 BB, 5 K, 6 GB, 2 FB
Zach Collier - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K
Maikel Franco - 1 for 4, CS
Kelly Dugan - 2 for 3, 2B, HBP (outfield assist)
Sebastian Valle - 1 for 4, R, K

Umm, that is just a bizarre line from Biddle, who continues to show some real control issues.  Thankfully, it didn't hurt him in the form of runs scored in this game.  He exited the game, being replaced by reliever Kyle Simon who would promptly give up all 4 runs scored.

Daytona 11, Clearwater 0

Perci Garner - 4.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 5 BB, 4 K, HR, 7 GB, 1 FB
Jiwan James - 0 for 4, 2 K
Aaron Altherr - 1 for 3, 2B, BB
Chris Serritella - 0 for 4, 3 K
Cameron Perkins - 0 for 3 (throwing error)
Harold Martinez - 0 for 3, K

Garner has definitely been struggling as of late.  He walks way too many batters; something that he will surely need to fix.  The offense was completely flat with only 3 hits and 7 baserunners all game.

West Virginia 7, Lakewood 0

Ramon Oviedo - 4.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 6 GB, 5 FB
Brian Pointer - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K, CS
Larry Greene - 1 for 4, 2B, 2 K
Willie Carmona - 1 for 4, K
Art Charles - 1 for 3, 2 K, HBP

Oviedo's foray as a starter hasn't gone particularly well with Lakewood.  The offense only could manage 4 hits all game.

Tri-City 10, Williamsport 2

Shane Martin - 4 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 K, 5 GB, 1 FB
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 4, 3 K
Zach Green - 1 for 3, HR, BB, K
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 4, R
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 4, K
Logan Pierce - 2 for 4, 2 K

Shane Martin with his first bad start in a while.  The offense wasn't very noteworthy, other than Zach Green's league leading 10th homerun.

GCL Yankees2 6, GCL Phillies 3

Ranfi Casimiro - 4 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 6 ER, K, 6 GB, 3 FB
Herlis Rodriguez - 1 for 3, RBI
Jair Morelos - 1 for 4, R
JP Crawford - 0 for 4, K
Nick Ferdinand - 0 for 3, BB
Wilmer Oberto - 0 for 3, BB
Jose Pujols - 0 for 2, RBI, 2 BB, K
Jan Hernandez - 1 for 3, R, 2B, HBP (throwing error)

0 for 4 !?!?!?! I'm done with Crawford, bustville.  Kidding of course, but the team itself was a bit disappointing.
