Delmon Free and Proud: Phillies at Nationals Game Thread, August 9, 2013

Those antibiotics finally did their job.

Rob Carr

This is the first game in the post-Delmon era. His plump figure will no longer darken Phillies lineups and batters boxes from here to Los Angeles and back again. I feel that while the official end was the acquisition of Casper Wells and Young's DFA, the unofficial end was the appearance of Darin Ruf in right field. The Phillies chose to play Darin Ruf, first baseman and left fielder-in-training, in right field instead of Delmon Young. That just tickles me.

Is there more to say other than that? I mean, do we need more? One Young gone, one Young to go. Make it so, Phillies. Make it so.

Former National John Lannan will take on current National Dan Haren tonight at Nationals Park. Just a reminder, Natitude is really stupid. Don't forget that.
