Phillies News: Domonic Brown Shut Down With Tendinitis

This news is disappointing but not surprising.

Oh my God I miss you Dom.

Domonic Brown's nagging foot injury isn't getting any better. He's been shut down from all baseball activities for at least a week after being diagnosed with tendinitis in his right Achilles, which was revealed in an MRI. MLB.com's Todd Zolecki quotes Brown saying that there's inflammation, but that his expectation is that he'll play again this season. I personally hope that he rests that thing until it's 100% completely better and doesn't set foot on the diamond until then, even if that means not seeing my beloved Dom until 2014. I feel like all he has to do is look at Ryan Howard and he'll quickly be thinking "You know what? I think I'm gonna let this heal."

This year, Brown had the breakout season many fans had been hoping for, myself included. He hit .274/.320/.513 in 123 games, with 18 doubles, four triples, and 27 home runs. The highlight of his season was the month of May, during which he hit .303/.303/.688 and knocked 12 home runs. He was named NL Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks, and was named NL Player of the Month for May. He was also named to his very first All-Star Team. The awesome Domonic Brown was without a doubt the highlight of this dismal season, at least for me.

Get well and heal fully, Dom. Until then, I'll be watching this.
