The Phillies need to get out of Florida as soon as possible, for it has brought them nothing but sadness, unnecessary controversy, and an endless stream of bad fortune. Freddy Galvis, who was most likely going to get a spot on the bench to open the season (or replace Jimmy Rollins, depending on which conspiracy theory you believe), has been hospitalized.
Freddy Galvis is in the hospital with a staph infection. He is expected to open the season on the DL.

The infection is apparently due to the removal of an abscess in Galvis' left knee that took place a few days ago. No word on whether an angry witch doctor caused Galvis' abscess, or if Freddy picked up a tiki idol on the beach that turned out to be bad luck.
With Galvis on the DL to start the season, non-roster invitees Reid Brignac and Ronny Cedeno now move up a notch or two on the ol' depth chart (which is suddenly bereft of actual depth). Either one could be a replacement for Galvis. But none of them will ever replace Freddy IN MY HEART.
Get well soon, Freddy. The Phillies need your effervescent energy. Especially Jimmy Rollins, AMIRITE!?!?! I'll show myself out.
