Rochester 4, Lehigh Valley 2
Barry Enright - 5.2 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 9 GB, 1 FB
Phillippe Aumont - 2.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K
Maikel Franco - 1 for 4, RBI, BB, K (fielding error)
Cameron Rupp - 0 for 4, R, K
Jim Murphy - 2 for 3, 2B, RBI, BB, K
Leandro Castro - 0 for 1, 3 BB (outfield assist, 3B)
This recap is just too depressing to write. Franco had a walk and an error (back at 3B this game). Homeran Rupp has gone ice cold. Barry Enright is still pitching for Lehigh Valley. It's going to be hard to follow this team barring any promotions until mid-summer. Outside of Franco, Rupp, Buchanan and Pettibone...there isn't a whole lot here. Aumont with a very Aumontian line. He also got a lot of help from his outfielders throwing out runners trying to stretch out plays. Iron Pigs throw out Sean O'Sullivan tomorrow against ace Twins prospect Alex Meyer. Where is our Alex Meyer, Ruben? Where is he?
Reading 2, Harrisburg 1
Hoby Milner - 4.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K, 3 GB, 4 FB
Austin Wright - 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 GB, 3 FB
Tyler Knigge - 1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K
Jay Johnson - 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Carlos Alonso - 1 for 4, K
Albert Cartwright - 1 for 4, 3B
Cam Perkins - 2 for 4, R
Kelly Dugan - 1 for 4, HR, 2 K
Tommy Joseph - 0 for 3, BB, K
An even better start from Hoby Milner this time out, but does not get the win. Now let's talk about Austin Wright, the promising, imposing lefty whose fall from grace last season has baffled many. He now looks to become a full-time reliever. He was able to work out of some jams after putting men on base, but is going to need to rediscover his ability to actually strike batters out to be successful at this level and beyond. Kelly Dugan with his 1st home run on the season, but otherwise had a mediocre day at the plate. Cam Perkins just continues to hit. He might not have the power, but the kid has hit at every single level with relative ease. I see a mid-summer promotion for both Dugan and Perkins. Reading actually had a brief scare in the bottom of the 9th when Knigge gave up a 1 out triple who would eventually score, but Jay Johnson would close out the game for the Fightin's. Perci Garner gets the ball today.
Tampa 7, Clearwater 3
Jon Prosinski - 6.2 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 4 ER, K, HR, 13 GB, 6 FB
Freddy Galvis - 1 for 4, R, 3B, RBI (fielding error)
Peter Lavin - 0 for 3, RBI, K
Harold Martinez - 1 for 4, K
Art Charles - 1 for 3, R, BB, K
KC Serna - 2 for 4, 2B, K
Brian Pointer - 0 for 3, R
Prosinski after a rough 2nd inning, settled in nicely and induced a baker's dozen ground ball outs through 6 solid innings. Without seeing pitch counts, he was left in for the 7th and promptly loaded the bases before getting a forceout at home. So with the bases loaded and one out, he then hit a batter to bring the first run across. Then next run would score courtesy of a fielding error by defensive whiz Freddy Galvis. A sac fly and a 2 RBI single would score another 3 runs. At that point it was largely over, despite Clearwater tacking a couple extra runs at the top of the following inning. Miguel Nunez will try and stop the bleeding as he gets the ball today.
Hagerstown 6, Lakewood 0
Tyler Viza - 5 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 4 ER, BB, 5 K, 3 GB, 5 FB, WP, balk
Julio Reyes - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 GB, 1 FB
Yacksel Rios - 2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 3 K, 3 GB, 0 FB
JP Crawford - 0 for 4
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, 2B, K (fielding error)
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 4, K
Zach Green - 0 for 4 (fielding error)
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 2, HBP
Samuel Hiciano - 1 for 3, 2B, K
Larry Greene - 0 for 2, BB, SB
Gabriel Lino - 1 for 3, 2B, 2 K
This game went as well as I suspected. They faced Nationals uber-prospect Lucas Giolito, who 1 hit the Blueclaws through 5 innings, while only giving up 1 walk and striking out 6. Viza pitched well enough that the manager said, "hey, go out there for the 6th". He would give up a leadoff triple and then walk a batter. A Zach Green and Carlos Tocci error later, those two runs would score. Julio Reyes would come in and allow two more inherited runners to score. JP Crawford returns to the lineup, so that's good. Zach Green with his 4th error on the season at the hot corner. Alejandro Arteaga looks to build off strong 1st start tonight.
