Elsa

Lehigh Valley 5, Scranton/WB 2 (April 18, 2014)

Barry Enright - 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 3 GB, 7 FB
Kyle Simon - 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER
Luis Garcia - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 K
Seth Rosin - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Tyson Gillies - 1 for 5, RBI, K
Clete Thomas - 3 for 5, R, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB (fielding error)
Jim Murphy - 1 for 6, 3 K
Reid Brignac - 1 for 4, 2B, RBI, 2 K
Leandro Castro - 1 for 4, R, K

Pretty unspectacular games from unspectacular names. Barry Enright pitched well enough in his best outing of the year thus far. Hector Neris, Luis Garcia and Seth Rosin would combine for 4 shutout innings in relief. The game would go to extras in a 2-2 tie game. Iron Pigs batters would explode for 3 runs via two RBI singles and a sac fly in the top of the 11th to secure the win. Franco got a day off.

Scranton/WB 4, Lehigh Valley 3 (April 19, 2014)

Sean O'Sullivan - 5.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 1 ER, BB, 3 K, 7 GB, 6 FB (throwing error)
Justin De Fratus - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Phillippe Aumont - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
Tyson  Gillies - 2 for 4, HR, CS, picked off
Clete Thomas - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K
Maikel Franco - 0 for 4, K
Reid Brignac - 1 for 3, R, 2B, BB
Leandro Castro - 2 for 4, R, 2B, RBI
Sebastian Valle - 0 for 3, K

Sean O'Sullivan being Sean O'Sullivan. Batters are now hitting .303 off him and has given up 11 runs (8 earned) in 3 starts this season. De Fratus and Aumont were pretty darn good in relief to keep the Iron Pigs in the game. It was Aumont's first clean outing in 5 appearances this season. Franco was back in the lineup this game playing first base, but with similar results at the plate. Tyson GIllies with his first dinger on the year in the 8th which brought the game to 4-3 before Scranton would close it out.

Lehigh Valley 9, Scranton/WB 4 (April 20, 2014)

Cesar Jimenez - 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K, 3 GB, 5 FB
Kyle Simon - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, K
Tyson Gillies - 0 for 5, R, 2 K
Clete Thomas - 2 for 5, R, K
Maikel Franco - 3 for 5, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Reid Brignac - 1 for 5, 2 R, 2B, RBI, K
Jim Murphy - 1 for 4, R, RBI, BB
Koyie Hill - 4 for 5, R, 3B, 2 RBI (passed ball)
Steve Susdorf - 2 for 5, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Leandro Castro - 0 for 3, RBI, BB, 2 K

Cesar Jimenez started on Sunday after having a relief appearance his last time out. He pitched very well, 1 hitting the RailRider lineup over 5 innings. Other than an implosion by Hector Neris in the bottom of the 9th for 4 runs, it was a damn good day for the Iron Pigs. Franco found his groove and drove home a pair of runs and had an extra base hit! Koyie Hill continues to dominate this season. The 35 year old journeyman is making a nice first impression. These two teams finish the series tonight with David Buchanan taking the mound.

Reading 6, Harrisburg 2 (April 18, 2014)

Jesse Biddle - 7 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 11 K, HR, 7 GB, 2 FB (pickoff error)
Carlos Alonso - 1 for 3, 2 R, 2 BB, SB
Cesar Hernandez - 3 for 4, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI
Tommy Joseph - 1 for 4, BB (throwing error)
Cam Perkins - 1 for 4, RBI, K
Zach Collier - 0 for 1, RBI, 2 BB, HBP, CS, picked off
Anthony Hewitt - 0 for 4, 2 K
Edgar Duran - 1 for 2, 2 R, BB, SB

Jesse Biddle shines in this one for his best performance of the season. He two hits the Harrisburg lineup, with one of  those hits being a HR to former Phillie Lenny Dykstra's son, Cutter Dykstra. The other run Biddle would surrender would be courtesy of a Tommy Joseph throwing error. Cesar Hernandez continues to hit and play third base in an effort to diversify his usefulness. Perkins extends his hitting streak to 7 games.

Harrisburg 10, Reading 4 (April 19, 2014)

Severino Gonzalez - 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 5 K, HR, 7 GB, 4 FB (pickoff error)
Austin Wright - 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, K
Brody Colvin - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, K
Jay Johnson - 1 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 5 ER, BB, K, 2 HR, HBP
Carlos Alonso - 1 for 4, 2 R, BB, 2 K
Cesar Hernandez - 2 for 5 (throwing error)
Zach Collier - 2 for 5, R, 3B, K
Cam Perkins - 2 for 3, RBI, 2 BB, SB
Tommy Joseph - 2 for 5, RBI

Severino gets hit with the hard luck loss, despite pitching a quality outing. Austin Wright and Jay Johnson were a disaster and didn't help the cause. Reading commits 4 errors in the game (Gonzalez, Stassi, Serritella, Hernandez). This was Hernandez 3rd error on the season playing 3B. It will certainly be a long adjustment for him there as he doesn't have a particularly strong arm. Brody Colvin with a hitless inning! Cam Perkins extends his hitting streak to 8 games and adds his 2nd stolen base. Reading had off on Sunday, but are back at it Monday with Luis Paulino on the mound.

Lakeland 9, Clearwater 8 (April 18, 2014)

Jeb Stefan - 3.0 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 4 GB, 2 FB
Colton Murray - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K, 2 GB, 1 FB
Brian Pointer - 0 for 3, R, 2 BB, CS
Peter Lavin - 1 for 4, 2 R, 2 BB, 3 K, picked off
Aaron Altherr - 1 for 5, R, BB
Harold Martinez - 1 for 6, R, RBI, 2 K
Art Charles - 2 for 5, R, RBI, BB, K
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 6, K
Anthony Phillips - 1 for 3, HR, 2 RBI
Angelo Mora - 2 for 5, R, 2 K (fielding error)

Jeb Stefan never really gave the Threshers hitters a chance and has had a rough go of it early on. Colton Murray continues to be aces in the pen (8.2 IP 10 K, 2 BB and batting .189 against). Lakeland would tie it in the 8th to send the game into extras. Lee Ridenhour in his 3rd inning of relief would give up the winning run in the top of the 13th to give the Flying Tigers the win in this one.

Lakeland 4, Clearwater 2 (April 19, 2014)

Ethan Stewart - 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, BB, 7 K, 6 GB, 3 FB
Brian Pointer - 0 for 3, 2 BB, K
Aaron Altherr- 1 for 3, R, 2 BB, K (fielding error)
Willie Carmona - 2 for 5, 2B, K

Another extra inning loss for Clearwater. Brian Pointer continues to be an on base machine. The offense was a bit more quiet this game and was held without a run until the bottom of the 9th down 2-0. RBI singles from Logan Moore and Art Charles would tie the game at 2. Chris Burgess would lose the game for the Threshers in the top of the 11th, surrendering 2 runs. Clearwater, also with Sunday off, goes tonight with Jon Prosinski getting the rubber.

Hagerstown 10, Lakewood 8 (April 18, 2014)

Ranfi Casimiro - 2.2 IP, 7 H, 9 R, 5 ER, 0 K, HR, 5 GB, 4 FB (pickoff error)
Julio Reyes - 3.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 K
Ulises Joaquin - 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 K
JP Crawford - 3 for 5, 2 R, CS
Carlos Tocci - 3 for 5, R, RBI
Dylan Cozens - 3 for 5, 3 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, K, SB
Zach Green - 1 for 4, R, RBI, BB
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 4, BB, K (fielding error)
Samuel Hiciano - 1 for 3, RBI, BB, K
Larry Greene - 0 for 5, RBI, 2 K

Crazy game as Lakewood outhits Hagerstown, but still loses. Brutal 2nd and 3rd innings of 5 and 4 runs, respectively, doomed Casimiro who only had himself to fault (his pickoff error led to his unearned runs). Julio Reyes and Ulises Joaquin continue to miss bats. Reyes has 9 K's and no walks in 8.2 IP (0.00 ERA). Joaquin has 13 K's, 2 walks and an ERA of 2.00 in 9 IP. Crawford and Tocci with another big game at the top of the lineup. Cozens mashes his 1st homer of the season and steals his 3rd base. He was a triple short of the cycle.

Hagerstown 11, Lakewood 6 (April 19, 2014)

Shane Martin - 3 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 3 GB, 2 FB
JP Crawford - 1 for 4, RBI, BB, CS (missed catch error)
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 3, R, BB, K, HBP
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 5, K
Zach Green - 2 for 4, R, BB, K
Willians Astudillo - 2 for 4, R, RBI
Samuel Hiciano - 1 for 2, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, HBP (outfield assist, 3B)
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 3, RBI, BB, K (2 passed balls)
Robinson Torres - 2 for 4, RBI, SB

Shane Martin and the bullpen (Manny Martinez/Tyler Buckley) combined for 14 hits, 11 runs (10 ER), 6 walks and only 6 strikeouts over 7 innings. JP Crawford with his 2nd caught stealing in as many games. Willians Astudillo moved up in the lineup (as per my request) and does quite well. His magic might have rubbed off on Robinson Torres who took his normal spot in the lineup and had a grand ol' day. Gabriel Lino with two more passed balls in this game, giving him 5 so far. Hagerstown sweeps the series. Lakewood had the day off on Sunday and take on Charleston with Mark Leiter getting the start.
