Lehigh Valley, Norfolk (April 25, 2014 postponed due to rain)

Pawtucket 7, Lehigh Valley 5 (April 26, 2014)

Jonathan Pettibone - 6 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 5 GB, 6 FB
Cesar Jimenez - 0.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER
Phillippe Aumont - 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, K
BJ Rosenberg - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, K
Clete Thomas - 1 for 3, 2 H, RBI, 2 BB, SB
Steve Susdorf - 3 for 5, R, 2B, K
Maikel Franco - 0 for 5, RBI (throwing error)
Koyie Hill - 2 for 5, 2B, RBI
Leandro Castro - 0 for 4, K (fielding error)

Lehigh Valley had a 4-3 advantage going into the top of the 7th. Cesar Jimenez, who has been lights out so far, implodes in epic fashion. Aumont followed him up with a scoreless, but very Aumontian outing. Clete Thomas continues to probably be my favorite player in LHV (I don't have any reason for this). Franco was back at third base in this game and committed his 2nd error on the season. A rally in the bottom of the 9th fell short with runners are corners with one out. Brignac would strike out and Hill would fly out to end the game.

Lehigh Valley 9, Pawtucket 7 (April 27, 2014)

David Buchanan - 5.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 K, HR, 5 GB, 2 FB, WP
Brad Lincoln - 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, K, HR
Justin De Fratus - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, K
Luis Garcia - 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, BB, K (missed catch error)
Clete Thomas - 0 for 3, R, 2 BB (outfield assist, 3B)
Maikel Franco - 1 for 4, R, 2B, RBI, K, SB (!!)
Jim Murphy - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, K
Leandro Castro - 1 for 3, R, RBI, K
Sebastian Valle - 1 for 3, 2B, 3 RBI

Aside from a rough 1st and 5th inning, Buchanan was...alright. He gave up a lot of hits, hit two batters and had a wild pitch. Thankfully, the offense was on full throttle in this one. Apparently Franco made an easy steal of third base when the pitcher failed to keep him on. Our righties in the pen continue to struggle. Greg Smith gets the rubber this evening.

New Hampshire 11, Reading 10 (April 25, 2014)

Severino Gonzalez - 4.1 IP, 8 H, 9 R, 5 ER, BB, 5 K, 5 GB, 1 FB
Mike Nesseth - 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K
Austin Wright - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K
Ken Giles - 1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K
Kyle Simon - 1.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K, HR
Carlos Alonso - 1 for 5, 2 R, 3B, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K
Cesar Hernandez - 1 for 5, R, 2B, RBI, BB, K (fielding error)
Cam Perkins - 0 for 4, R, BB, K
Kelly Dugan - 0 for 1
Anthony Hewitt - 2 for 5, R, 2 RBI, 2 K, SB
Aaron Altherr - 1 for 5, HR, 2 RBI, 2 K
Tommy Joseph - 2 for 5, 2B, HR, RBI
Edgar Duran - 2 for 4, 2 R (fielding error)

Crazy game, down 9-4 in the top of the 8th, Reading would score 5 runs to tie the game and eventually send it to extra innings. An RBI single from Anthony Hewitt would put them up in the bottom of the 10th. Ken Giles would attempt to close it out, but not before disappointing the greater tri-state area and blowing the save giving up the tying run. Kyle Simon gives up the walkoff HR in the bottom of the 12th with two outs. Kelly Dugan leaves this game early, but I don't have a report as to why. Cesar with his 5th error at third base. Tommy Joseph with his 4th HR. Go Tommy Go!

New Hampshire 5, Reading 0 (April 26, 2014)

Hoby Milner - 4 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, K, 5 GB, 6 FB
Tyler Knigge - 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, 4 K
Cesar Hernandez - 2 for 4, 2B, K
Cam Perkins - 1 for 3, BB, K
Aaron Altherr - 0 for 4
Chris Serritella - 1 for 3
Anthony Hewitt - 0 for 3, 2 K
Edgar Duran - 1 for 3

Hoby Milner makes a not so triumphant return from the DL. The offense ran out of juice from their last game . The Fightin's go 0 for 4 with RISP in this one. Worth noting Kelly Dugan not playing in this game either.

New Hampshire 4, Reading 2 (April 27, 2014)

Perci Garner - 6 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 14 GB, 1 FB
Hector Neris - 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K, HR
Brock Stassi - 2 for 4, R, 2B
Cesar Hernandez - 0 for 4
Cam Perkins - 1 for 4, RBI, K
Aaron Altherr - 3 for 4, R, 2B (picked off)
Zach Collier - 0 for 2, 2 BB
Logan Moore - 1 for 3, 2B, RBI

A bad 3rd inning did in Garner who was otherwise stellar, getting ground ball out after ground ball out. Reading gets swept in the 3 game series. Jesse Biddle goes tonight in what is hopefully a continuation of his last two starts.

Dunedin 5, Clearwater 0 (April 25, 2014)

Brody Colvin - 3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, K, 2 GB, 4 FB
Brian Pointer - 1 for 4, 2 K
Peter Lavin - 0 for 3
Harold Martinez - 1 for 3, 2B

A rather depressing box score. Colvin gets demoted to Clearwater and starts a game with results just as you would expect from him. He is an official non-prospect now. Dunedin pitcher, Matt Boyd, throws 8 innings of 2 hit ball and strikes out 12 batters.

Dunedin 2, Clearwater 1 (April 26, 2014)

Jon Prosinski - 7 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 8 GB, 4 FB
Brian Pointer - 0 for 4, K
Peter Lavin - 1 for 4, R, 2B
Harold Martinez - 2 for 4, K
Willie Carmona - 1 for 3, RBI
Angelo Mora - 1 for 3, 2B, 2 K

Go figure Prosinski tosses a gem, but doesn't get the run support to back him up (a tough request I know from this offense). Once again the Threshers bats go largely silent, other than the sounds of swinging and missing. They struck out 12 times again. The entire lineup has gone cold. Prosinski was relieved in the 8th for Kevin Walter who would give up the go ahead run via a RBI single.

Dunedin 5, Clearwater 4 (April 27, 2014)

Miguel Nunez - 6.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, K, 11 GB, 5 FB
Brian Pointer - 0 for 4, K
Peter Lavin - 0 for 4, R, 2 K
Harold Martinez - 2 for 4, R (fielding error)
Art Charles - 3 for 4, R, 2B, RBI
Gabriel Lino - 2 for 4, HR, 2 RBI
Willie Carmona - 2 for 4, K

Miguel Nunez has regressed a bit in his last two starts (10 IP, 11 ER, 6 BB, K). His first three were great (18 IP, 6 ER, BB, 16 K). Gabriel Lino getting the promotion to Clearwater and blasts his 2nd on the year (1st in Clearwater, obviously). Reliever Lee Ridenhour actually takes the loss in this one after giving up the tying and go ahead run in the bottom of the 7th. Brian Pointer's average has dropped below .200 after his hot start. Clearwater loses 3 of 4 to Dunedin and start a series against Brevard County with Jeb Stefan getting the start.

Savannah 4, Lakewood 1 (April 25, 2014, Game 1 of doubleheader)

Ranfi Casimiro - 5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, K, HR, 7 GB, 4 FB, WP
JP Crawford - 0 for 3
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 3, R, 3B, K
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 3, 2B, RBI, K
Willians Astudillo - 1 for 3
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 3, 2 K
Samuel Hiciano - 0 for 3
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, 2 K

Ranfi throws better this time out, but still isn't missing bats. Tocci puts his 3 K performance from Thursday behind and hits his 2nd triple on the season.

Savannah 10, Lakewood 2 (April 25, 2014, Game 2 of doubleheader, makeup of 4/6 ppd)

Julio Reyes - 3 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, HR, 5 GB, 2 FB
JP Crawford - 2 for 3, R, BB, SB (fielding error)
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, 2B, RBI, 2 K
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 3, K (outfield assist, 2B)
Willians Astudillo - 0 for 3, K
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 1, R, 2 BB
Samuel Hiciano - 1 for 3, 2B, K
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 3, 2 K (passed ball)
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, 2 K

I am going to become very jaded if games like this continue. The starting pitching continues to be a disaster for Lakewood outside of Mark Leiter. The saving grace as always is JP Crawford and what he is doing in his first full season at A ball. Despite the fielding error, he has a solid 2 hit game and steals his 6th base of the season. Gabriel Lino with his 7th passed ball. Jan Hernandez is 0 for 12 with two walks and 6 strikeouts through his first 4 games. I think he might be a little overmatched.

Lakewood 3, Savannah 0 (April 26, 2014)

Mark Leiter - 8 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K, 12 GB, 5 FB
JP Crawford - 0 for 2, 2 BB, 2 K
Carlos Tocci - 2 for 4, K
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 4, 2 K
Wilmer Oberto - 0 for 4, 4 K
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 3, R, BB, 3 K
Samuel Hiciano - 3 for 4, HR, CS
Jiandido Tromp - 0 for 3, RBI, 2 K
Jan Hernandez - 1 for 3, R, 2B

Lakewood goes 0 for 7 with RISP and strikeout 14 times, but somehow still win. Mark Leiter was fantastic once again. You could see a promotion quite soon with him as he is pitching against kids who are mostly 3 years younger than himself. Tocci continues to impress me, though you'd like to see some more walks for a guy you figure to hit leadoff if he is successful. Samuel Hiciano hits his first full season homer! He is definitely a guy to keep an eye on has the season goes on. Serious breakout candidate.

Lakewood 6, Savannah 5 (April 27, 2014)

Tyler Viza - 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, K, 5 GB, 9 FB
JP Crawford - 1 for 2, 2 R, HR, 2 BB, K, CS (picked off)
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, R, K
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 3, R, BB, 2 K
Wilmer Oberto - 1 for 3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K
Samuel Hiciano - 0 for 3, RBI, 2 K
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 3, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K, CS
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 3, BB, K
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, 2 K

Tyler Viza has been consistent if anything and has held his own in full season ball so far. Crawford with his 2nd HR on the year! Is the power starting to develop? He also walks for the 12th and 13th time this season. He is sporting a seriously impressive .288/.394/.400 slash line through 21 games and 80 at bats. Oberto belts his 3rd of the year and Grullon collects his first hit in as many games with Lakewood. Including the makeup game, the Blue Claws lose the series 3-2. They have off today before beginning a 3 game set against Lexington. Alejandro Arteaga will likely get the start on Tuesday.
