North Carolina was spared mother nature's wrath it seemed. Casimiro after a pretty disappointing 2013 with the GCL Phils, was double jumped to Lakewood (for now at least). It was not an impressive debut, but at age 21 he should be progressing a bit faster than he has. The bullpen, excluding Joaquin (Yacksel Rios, Cody Forsythe, Tyler Buckley) gave up a combined 6 runs (5 earned) in relief. Speaking of Joaquin, in the early season he has now thrown 4 innings of 1 hit baseball and struck out 6. Now onto the offense, which contributed to the giant slugfest. Both teams combined for 29 hits and 6 errors. Lakewood went 4 for 25 with RISP and left 14 players on base. JP Crawford with a monster performance, which saw him hit his 1st homer of the season (which put the Blue Claws on top in the top of the 11th). He has hit safely in all 4 games this season and is batting .368/.429/.632. The errors by Crawford are a minor concern that should be looked at closely going forward. 3 errors in 4 games isn't what I expected from the start of the season, especially from someone of Crawford's defensive prowess. Zach Green with another stolen base, his second of the season. He had all of 8 SB in 2013 in 311 plate appearances. He also committed his 3rd error of the season. He had 17 errors in 72 games with Williamsport last year. Though Lino is only batting .167, he has 6(!!!) walks. Lino had only 11 in 204 PAs last season. Oh, and that Astudillo kid another good day.
